Components

18 Cards with Neighborhoods on one side and Central Park on the other.

Setup

The player that most recently ate Pizza is the starting player. They will place the cards on their Central Park side and separate into two piles: Upper East and Upper West. Then shuffle the piles.

In player order, each player takes one card from each pile, making sure that both sides of Central Park do not have the same Map Pin icon (Iconic Building, Arts Center, Shop, Restaurant) or the same Neighborhood Type icon (Technology, Business, International, Historic, Arts, Fashion). If both cards share icons, they must draw the next card from either pile until they have two valid cards.

Then they will place the cards in front of them to start their city (as shown below: each player's two starting cards side by side, Upper West Side on the left and Upper East Side on the right, forming Central Park).

Then shuffle the remaining 14 cards together and place the deck so that the Central Park side is face up in the center of the play area. Flip over 3 cards in a line leading from the deck to form the drafting row.

Gameplay

Players take turns drafting and placing cards into their individual cities. Each turn, the active player takes a card from the drafting row and places it into a vacant lot in their city, then flips the top card of the deck to refill the drafting row.

There are six empty lots that make up your city: Uptown West and Uptown East (above the starting cards), and Midtown West, Midtown East, Downtown West and Downtown East (below the starting cards).

Cards may be placed in any vacant lot.

Once a card is placed into a lot, it may not be moved.

Depending on where a card is placed, different scoring conditions will apply. Each Neighborhood card shows three scoring conditions, for example:

  • If placed in Uptown: 3 points.
  • If placed in Midtown: 3 points per International Neighborhood in West Manhattan.
  • If placed in Downtown: Score 2 points for each Neighborhood Type of your choice in your city, except Historic.

End of the Game

When both players have placed 6 cards and filled the last vacant lot in their city, the game ends. The player with the highest score wins.

In the event of a tie, the player with the most different Neighborhood Types wins. If still tied, the players share the victory.

Scoring

Each player will score their city from:

  • The active scoring condition for each Neighborhood Card in their city;
  • The scoring goal on each of their Central Park Cards.

Neighborhood Card Scoring

For each Neighborhood Card determine the number of points it scores from the active scoring condition determined by the lot it is placed in.

  • 3 (star): Score 3 points.
  • 2 / two different Neighborhood Types in a row: Score 2 points for each row in your city with different Neighborhood Types.
  • 3 / column of all different types: Score 3 points for each column in your city with all different Neighborhood Types.
  • 3 / Neighborhood Type, "Next to" Central Park: Score 3 points for each of the pictured Neighborhood Types adjacent to your Central Park.
  • 3 / Neighborhood Type "In East Manhattan" (identified lots): Score 3 points for each of the pictured Neighborhood Types in the identified lots in your city.
  • 5 / "If not next to" two Neighborhood Types: Score 5 points if this card is not adjacent to either of the two pictured Neighborhood Types.
  • 2 / ? (one type crossed out): Choose any 1 Neighborhood Type except the one shown. Score 2 points for each card in your city of that Neighborhood Type.
  • 7 -1 / Taxi: Score 7 points minus 1 point per large Taxi icon anywhere in your city, no matter if it is in a scoring location or not. This includes the Taxi you are scoring.

Central Park Card Scoring

For each of your Central Park Cards, compare the number of times the requirement is met in your city with your opponent's city. You score if you achieve the goal. If both players have an equal number, no points are scored. You only score for your own Central Park cards.
