Components

  • 6 large dice in white, yellow, blue, black, red and green, with pips from 1 to 6
  • 2 dice blocks (Würfelquader) in blue and orange, with pips from 1 to 4 on four sides and a blank side on each of the other two sides
  • 1 small yellow die, with the digits 1, 2 and 3 and three blank sides
  • 30 building cards, printed on both sides, for 60 tasks in total

Object of the Game

The players try to fulfil as many building cards as possible and so collect points.

Setup

The oldest player begins. He receives the six large dice, the two dice blocks and the deck of building cards, which he places in front of him. We call him the "Builder" (Bauherr).

His right-hand neighbour takes the smaller yellow die with the digits. He is the "Stopper".

Get pencil and paper ready to note down the points, and off you go!

Gameplay

The Stopper gives the start signal "Los!" ("Go!") and begins rolling the yellow die. He adds up all the numbers rolled until the total reaches or exceeds 30. For that length of time the Builder has to fulfil as many cards as possible.

Tip: To build tension, and to give the Builder a sense of how much time he has left, the Stopper should call out the current total after every roll, for example: "2, 5, 6, 6, 8, 10, 10, 11…"

As soon as the Stopper has given the start signal, the Builder begins:

  • He turns over the top card of the building-card deck.
  • He looks at which dice and blocks he needs to rebuild the construction shown.
  • He rolls the selected dice and blocks.
  • He checks whether he can already use the dice and blocks for the bottom level and the levels above it. He sets aside or immediately builds those he can use. He may keep rolling all the dice and blocks until he has results that fit and can all be built according to the rules.

(How the dice and blocks are to be used is explained after the action steps, see "Building Rule".)

Once the Builder has built the construction from dice and blocks (= "Make"), he knocks it down again (= "Break"). He keeps the fulfilled card and receives the points shown on it.

He then turns over the next card and follows the same steps as described above. This continues until the Stopper reaches or exceeds 30 and calls "Stopp!" ("Stop!").

Building Rule

When building, the dice and blocks in each level above must always be placed on top of a die or block that shows either the same number of pips or a higher number!

(This means that the dice in the bottom level should show as few pips as possible. The more levels a construction has, the more pips the dice in the upper levels must show.)

Example: Suppose the white die shows a "1" and the black die shows a "2". Then the block must show at least a "2". The yellow die must then also show at least a "2". Another possible combination would be, for example: White 1, Black 3, Blue 4, Yellow 6.

The two dice blocks show no pips on their square end faces. If the dice blocks must be placed upright, these end faces count as jokers: they can have any required value.

During the building phase the Builder may also re-roll dice he has already built into the construction, in order to achieve a more favourable value for the next level. The only important thing is that, at the end, the construction shown on the card is correctly rebuilt!

End of the Round and Scoring

As soon as the Stopper reaches the value 30 or more and calls "Stopp!", the Builder's round is over. He now counts the points he has achieved in this round, and these are noted. The points a building card is worth are shown in its upper corners.

An unfinished building card is not scored!

Next Round

The Builder shuffles the fulfilled cards back in among the others. He then passes the card deck, the six dice and the two dice blocks to his left-hand neighbour, who is the new Builder.

The Stopper passes the yellow die on to the left as well, so that the former Builder is now the Stopper.

Special Building Cards

Red 3 and red 4: When a large red "3" or "4" is revealed, the Builder is free in his choice of dice and blocks. He may also build any construction he likes. However, only one die or block may touch the table surface!

  • With the red "3", three dice/blocks must be used.
  • With the red "4", four dice/blocks must be used.

Neutral cards: The neutral building cards only specify the positions of the dice and blocks. The Builder decides which coloured die goes where. The only important thing is that the dice and blocks always show at least the value shown on the level below. Upright-standing blocks take the required value at both the top and the bottom (see above).

End of the Game

The game continues until every player has been the Builder three times.

At the end, the points from the individual rounds are added together. The player who reaches the highest total may celebrate as the winner!
