Setup
- Place the game box in the centre of the table and shake it several times so that the magnets under the board are distributed randomly.
- Assemble the hearth and place it in the centre of the game board, then put the fireball on top.
- Each player chooses a young wizard figure and receives a magic wand. Each young wizard starts the game from its own corresponding side of the board.
- Each player receives one ingredient of each colour and places them in the special hollows on their side of the board.
Idea and Goal of the Game
The young wizards take turns trying to carry each of their ingredients to the corresponding cauldrons without stumbling on the way. When all the components of the potion are in place, a player may try to throw the fireball at the hearth. The goal of the game is to be the first to light the fire.
Gameplay
Players take turns. The player who last saw a spider starts the game.
On your turn:
- Place your young wizard figure on the starting position.
- Carry one of your ingredients to the correct cauldron by placing it in the bowl that your young wizard holds above its head. Note: If another player has already carried all of their ingredients to the right cauldrons, you may try to carry two ingredients to a cauldron in one turn!
- Carry the ingredient to the cauldron of the matching colour by carefully pushing your wizard figure forward with your magic wand. If you are carrying two ingredients at once, you may put them into either one of the two cauldrons of your choice.
- As soon as the young wizard stands on the magic stone in front of the cauldron, the ingredient automatically drops into the cauldron.
Did the ingredient land in the right cauldron? Great! You will get a good potion. Remove your young wizard figure from the board; it is the next player's turn.
Note: When removing the wizard figure from the board, first lift it vertically upward so as not to shift the magnets under the board.
Oops! Did you mix up the cauldron or drop the ingredient? Your turn is over. Return the ingredient to its place and remove your young wizard figure from the board. The turn passes to the next player.
Hint: Near the 8 magic stones there are 4 most dangerous points where it is easiest to stumble. Be careful and try to avoid them!
End of the Game and Victory
As soon as you put your last ingredient into the right cauldron, on your next turn you may try to light the fire in the hearth! To do this, place your young wizard figure on the starting position and take the fireball from the hearth. Place it on the young wizard figure and carefully push it toward the hearth. When the wizard reaches the magic stone, he automatically throws the fireball.
The fire did not light? Return the fireball to its place. Remove your young wizard figure from the board; the turn passes to the next player.
The fire is burning! Congratulations, you did it! You have mastered the creation of magic potions and won the game!
