Goal of the Game

Each player takes turns pushing their marbles from the edge straight towards the center of the game board. The player with the largest contiguous group of their own marbles at the end of the game wins. The twist? You can also move your opponent's marbles and disrupt their strategy.

Setup

Choose a color each (white or black) and place the marbles on the 24 edge spaces of the game board at random. Make sure that no more than two marbles of the same color are adjacent to each other—this rule also applies to the corners of the board. Here is an example of a possible setup:

How to Play

The player with the white marbles begins. After that, players take turns. On your turn, push one of your marbles from the edge of the game board in a straight line into the game field.

Pay attention to the following:

  • Whenever you are able to push a marble, you must do so.
  • You may push your marble as far as you wish in any one direction except diagonally. You can stop it at any point. If you encounter one or more marbles in the same row, you can push them further along with your own.
  • You may not push a marble off the game board or back to the edge of the game board.
  • If you cannot push any of your marbles, you must pass and lose your turn.
  • Once you push a marble from its starting position on the edge of the board, you can no longer move it directly. It can only be moved if pushed by another marble. Think about your moves wisely!

Mia goes first and pushes a white marble into the middle of the field. Then, it is Luca's turn, and he also pushes his black marble towards the center, moving Mia's white marble along with his own.

Mia cannot push her white marble and the other marbles further to the left, as this would push the black marble to the edge of the board, which is not permitted.

End of the Game

The game ends when neither player can make a valid move. The player who has formed the largest contiguous group of marbles in their color wins. Marbles that are diagonally adjacent do not count towards the contiguous group.

Luca's largest group of contiguous black marbles consists of 6 marbles. Mia's largest group consists of 8 white marbles. She wins the game.

Optional Scoring

Note down how many marbles are in each contiguous group in your color. Then, multiply these numbers.

In the optional scoring, Luca wins with 36 points: 6 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 36. Mia scores 16 points: 8 x 2 x 1 x 1 = 16.

Tip: To attain the largest amount of points, create groups of 3 marbles. The highest possible score is 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 81.

Note: You agree on the socring mode before you start the match.
