400 cards with 2400 questions and answers, game board, 6 tokens, 6 UK puzzles (6 pieces in each), 1 dice.
Object of the game
By answering questions correctly from six different categories, you receive puzzle pieces for your UK puzzle. Once you have completed your 6-piece puzzle, head towards the centre space. If you are the first player to answer three further questions correctly, you win the game!
Question cards
The questions are divided into six different categories. These categories are: History, Culture, Nature, Geography, Sports and Miscellaneous. Each card has one question from each of the six categories. The colour in front of the question corresponds to the colour on the game board (Picture 2). The correct answer to each question can be found on the back of the card. Before the game begins, you will have to agree on the level of accuracy required from the answers. For example, when a person's name is asked is it enough to give just the last name, and how exact do the dates have to be?
Before the game begins
The question cards are placed on the table in four piles, with the question side facing up. Each player chooses a token and places it on any of the four corner squares on the game board (Picture 1). There can be more than one player on the same square. Each player throws the dice and the highest number starts. The turn goes clockwise.
How to play
Throw the dice and move your token either way around the board the corresponding number of squares. Now you will answer a question (Picture 2) from the category with the same colour as the square where you landed. If you land on a corner square, you are allowed to choose the category of the question yourself. The player to your left reads the question to you.
-
If your answer is incorrect or if you don't answer at all, your turn is over and the turn goes to the next player.
-
If your answer is correct, you receive a puzzle piece of the same colour as the category you answered. Place the puzzle piece in front of you on the table. The turn goes to the next player.
-
If you have to answer a question from a category for which you already have a puzzle piece, you don't receive a second puzzle piece of that colour if you answer correctly. Instead, you can throw the dice again, move your token normally and answer a new question. Continue this way until your answer is incorrect or you receive a new puzzle piece. After this the turn goes to the next player.
Towards the centre
Once you have completed the puzzle with six different coloured puzzle pieces, you will head towards a corner square of your choice. You don't have to throw an exact number to stop on the corner square.
On your next turn start your way towards the centre space (Picture 3). On the way to the centre space there are two question squares. You don't throw the dice to move your token; instead, you have to answer correctly the two questions determined by the game board.
-
If your answer is correct, you can move your token to the next question square and answer another question on your next turn.
-
If your answer is incorrect, your token stays on that square. You will answer a question from the same category on your next turn.
The winner
Once you have answered correctly one question in both question squares you are allowed to move your token to the centre space (Picture 3). On your next turn you answer a question, the category of which is decided by the player to your left, but he/she must decide before looking at the questions.
-
If your answer is correct, you win the game.
-
If your answer is incorrect, your token stays on the centre space. On your next turn you answer a new question from a different category chosen by the player to your left.
Game variations
-
Use only the outer circle of the game board. Try to collect as many puzzle pieces as possible. The game is over when all the puzzle pieces have been collected. The player with the most pieces wins.
-
Use the question cards without the game board. Throw the dice to see how many questions you will be asked. You win the card if you answer correctly. The player who has ended up with the most cards after a predetermined amount of playing time wins the game.
-
Move only clockwise on the game board.
-
You can also play in teams. Before starting decide whether team members can discuss with each other or not before answering.
And may the best man or woman win!
