Overview
Players will draft dice to "craft" different color tetrominos. Using spatial recognition and color coordination, they will attempt to strategically "Tower" over the competition.
Components
- 1 Scorepad
- 9 Dice
- 6 Crew Cards
- 6 Colored Pencils
- 4 Black Pencils
- 1 Sharpener
Setup
- Give each player a building sheet from the scorepad and a black pencil.
- Place all of the colored pencils in the center of the table in reach of all players.
- Shuffle the crew cards and deal each player one crew card face down (player may look).
- The player who most recently drew a building is the starting player.
- The starting player will take a certain number of dice, depending on the player count, and place them on the table. Return any extra dice back to the box.
Dice
- 2 player = 5 dice
- 3 player = 7 dice
- 4 player = 9 dice
Gameplay
Phase One: Drafting
- The starting player for the round rolls all of the dice so they are visible to all players. If more than half of the dice show the "?" face, Re-roll all of the "?" dice.
- Beginning with the starting player for this round, each player drafts one die into their supply, going clockwise until the last player has chosen.
- After each player has drafted their first die, all players will draft a second die, starting with the last player and going counter-clockwise, ending with the starting player.
NOTE: Each round will have one unused die remaining.
Phase Two: Crafting
Each player will create a colored block by combining the two dice they drafted. One of the dice will be used for the block's shape and the other for its color (Player's choice).
If a player drafted a single "?", they must use it as a wild "shape" die (L, S, T, square, or line). Their other die must be played as the block's color.
NOTE: If a player drafts two "?" dice, they can create a block of any shape and color this turn.
The reference illustration shows the two dice: die A is selected for shape only, and die B is selected for color only.
Phase Three: Placement
- Once a player has crafted their block for the round, they will add it to their Tower, coloring in the 4 appropriate boxes. The shape of the block can be flipped or rotated to fit the position of the player's choosing.
NOTE: The block must touch another block orthogonally or the bottom floor of the foundation to be placed legally.
The reference illustration shows a legal placement (checkmark) and an illegal placement (cross).
- Once per turn, in addition to adding a block normally, a player may fill in a single box with a purple space. Purple spaces are a limited supply (five per player per game) and will count as negative points at the end of the game. Mark used purple spaces at the top of the crane by crossing out the next available box from left to right. The numbers below the boxes equal the penalty that is paid for using each purple space.
NOTE: The color purple does count as a "different" color when scoring a level.
- Once all players have filled in their chosen block(s), they check for any scoring conditions (see Scoring).
Phase Four: Scoring
There are several ways to score in the game. Some are scored during the round and some are scored at the end of the game.
1. Level
- A. Once all of the boxes on a level of a player's tower are filled in, that level is immediately scored. A completed level is worth points equal to the number of different colors on it.
- B. Write the score for the level on the space next to it on the crane.
- C. If you are the first player to finish that specific level, fill in the small triangle in the corner of that crane space. Each filled in triangle corner is worth one point at the end of the game.
NOTE: If multiple players finish the same level at once, they each fill in the triangle corner for that level.
Add up all Level points at the end of the game.
2. Tools
- A. When a player fills in a box with a tool number on it, they check to see if it scores.
- B. If the box is filled in with the color that matches the number in the tool section, mark that tool number as completed to be scored at the end of the game.
NOTE: Tool spots do not need to be completed in numerical order.
Completed tool boxes score points equal to their displayed number, 1-5, for a potential total of 15 points per game.
3. Colors
Colors are scored at the end of the game. A player scores 3 points for having the largest orthogonally connected area of each color (red, orange, yellow, green, and blue).
NOTE: If multiple players are tied for largest area on a color they each score three points.
4. Crane
Each purple space played is worth negative points equal to the number displayed. At the end of the game, score all of your negative points in the Crane section.
NOTE: Each player has a maximum of 5 purple spaces they may use per game.
Phase Five: End Of Round
Check to see if the game has ended. (If a player can not legally place the block they've crafted). See Game End.
If the game hasn't ended, all players return their dice to the supply.
The starting player passes all of the supply dice to the player to their left.
That player is now the starting player and a new round begins.
Crew Cards
A crew card is assigned to each player at the start of the game. This card is used as a unique way for the player to break a rule of the game. They are a one-time use card and their ability is revealed to all players upon activation.
Editor's note: the individual crew card ability texts are too small to read in the source PDF and are not transcribed here.
Game End
If a player cannot legally place a block during a round, the game will end and the other players will place their blocks, scoring if necessary.
For the final scoring, each player adds up their scores for the Levels, Tools, and Colors. Then subtract points for the purple Crane spaces used.
The player with the highest total score, wins.
NOTE: In the event of a tie, the tied player with the fewest colors on the lowest level of their tower, wins.
Remote Rules
- As the owner of the game or Host, choose your favorite video messaging service and invite your friends.
- Each player will need to provide their own colored pencils, markers, or crayons.
- Have your friends print out one of the 5 Tower sheets that can be found at (insert link).
- Secretly assign each player a random Crew Card by having the Host reveal the card while all other players (including the host) close their eyes. Players should write down their Crew Card Ability.
- The Host will now set up their camera so that the players can see all the necessary dice on the table. As the game goes on, the Host will be responsible for rolling the dice, assigning the chosen dice to the players, and keeping track of whose turn it is.
- When a player is the first to finish a level, they announce which level is complete. All other players mark the triangle spot next to that level. At the end of the game, players score one point for each finished level that isn't marked.
