Game Material

  • 50 expedition tiles (in 5 colors, each with number tiles 1-10). The tiles 1, 6 and 10 of each color show the bet symbol (a handshake) below their number and have a different back from the remaining expedition tiles.
  • 11 bonus tiles
  • 3 dice

Setup

Sort the 50 expedition tiles by color and lay them in the middle of the table in five rows, ascending from 1 to 10. This is the general display. The tiles with the numbers 1, 6 and 10 each lie with the bet symbol (handshake) face up. Place the bonus tiles next to it, clearly visible.

Course of Play

The player whose birthday was most recent begins. Then you play clockwise. A turn consists of the steps rolling the dice, taking an expedition tile, and, if applicable, taking bonus tiles.

1) Rolling the dice

When it is your turn, roll all three dice. Afterwards you may re-roll one, two or all three dice. After this second roll at the latest, however, the dice result is fixed and can no longer be changed.

2) Taking an expedition tile

From the pip values of one, two or all three rolled dice you form a sum; bet symbols count 0. You may take any expedition tile from the middle of the table whose number equals the sum you determined.

With the tiles collected during the game you build a personal display in front of you. Sort them likewise in up to five rows, ascending from 1 to 10, as in the general display. If expedition tiles are already in your personal display, all further tiles of the same color that you take must show a higher number.

If the tile you take shows the bet symbol and the dice result also contains at least one bet symbol, you place the tile in your personal display with the bet symbol face up. Otherwise you turn it over and place it in your personal display without the bet symbol.

It may also happen that you cannot take a tile, or do not want to take a tile. In that case you may forgo taking one.

Example: At the start of her turn, Laura's personal display contains certain tiles (shown in a picture), and the general display in the middle of the table is also shown. After her dice roll, her dice show "1", "5" and a bet symbol. The dice therefore basically allow her to take any tile with "1", "5" or "6" (1+5). Excluded are two tiles (of two colors) because she already has tiles with higher numbers of those two colors in her personal display. If she decides on one of three particular tiles, she may place it in her personal display with the bet symbol face up, because her dice show a bet symbol.

3) Taking bonus tiles, if applicable

If, after placing the expedition tile, you meet the conditions for one or more of the bonus tiles still available, you may take it from the middle of the table and place it next to your personal display. The following bonus tiles exist, for when the condition is met for the first time:

  • 4 or more tiles of the same color (one each for red, blue, green, yellow and purple)
  • 6 or more tiles of a color of your choice
  • 4 or more consecutive tiles of a color of your choice
  • At least 1 tile of each color
  • 3 or more tiles with the number shown (3x3, 3x5, 3x7)

Example (continued): Laura decides on a tile that gives her, as the first, at least 1 tile of each color in her personal display. She takes the corresponding bonus tile from the middle of the table, which brings her an additional 10 points at the end of the game.

Attention: The player whose turn it is may always take bonus tiles from the middle of the table in this step if their conditions are met. It does not matter whether the condition was only met just now or in an earlier turn.

However, if a bonus tile already lies in a personal display, nobody else may take it any more!

End of the Game and Scoring

The game ends when one of the following conditions is met:

  • The last 10 expedition tile is taken from the middle.
  • 3-4 players: The last bonus tile is taken from the middle.
  • 2 players: The last of the six colored bonus tiles is taken from the middle.

The current turn is then still finished as normal.

Afterwards all bonus tiles and expeditions in the personal displays are scored individually. All expedition tiles of one color form one expedition each:

  • The value of an expedition equals the number of footprints shown on its tiles.
  • Bet symbols in the expedition multiply this number: with 1 bet symbol the points are doubled; with 2 bet symbols the points are tripled; with 3 bet symbols the points are quadrupled.
  • Each bonus tile is worth a further 10 points.

Whoever now has the most points wins!

Example: Laura's personal display at the end of the game is shown in a picture. She receives the following points for her expeditions: 4x2 = 8, 7, 2x2 = 4, 6x3 = 18, 4x2 = 8; total: 45.

In addition she receives 10 bonus points for each of her bonus tiles (five bonus tiles).

Laura also owns 4 green tiles, but the corresponding bonus tile was snapped up by another player. So she gets no 10 bonus points for it.

In total Laura thus has 95 points.
