Transcription Notes
These notes record every point where the card does not state the rule outright, so the text above can be checked against the cards.
- Ability timing is not printed. The base game rulebook says each Leader's ability is either Once Per Round or Permanent, shown at the bottom of the card. Neither card prints either word. The "1x" marker on Sanzio is read as a limit on how many times the ability is used, but the card does not say over what period. Machiavelli has no such marker, so its timing is unknown from the card alone.
- Requirement icons are read as requirements. The base game rulebook says the icons at the top of a Leader card are requirements, not costs. The blue, green and yellow Development cards, the servant, the purple Family Member and the Victory Point frames at the top of each card are read that way here.
- Gold Victory Point frame. The base game rulebook names Victory Points but does not describe their icon. The gold framed numeral is read as Victory Points, which fits the 20 on Machiavelli's requirement and the framed values used throughout both cards. The stacked gold coins are read as coins. This is a judgment call from the icon's form, not a printed legend.
- Servant icon. The beige wooden piece on Sanzio is read as a servant. The base game rulebook names the wooden resources (Wood, Stone, Servant) but does not describe their icons, so this identification rests on the piece's colour and shape.
- Purple Family Member. The purple figure on Sanzio is a pawn-shaped piece. It is read as a purple Family Member, because the base game's Family Members are the pawns. This is a judgment call from the icon's form, not a printed legend.
- Building colour. The card in Machiavelli's requirement is tan in the photograph. It is read as a Building card (yellow Development card) by the base game colour key. The card's own colour may be lighter in person.
- "X" in Machiavelli's ability. The card does not state what X is, nor whether the player chooses it. The text above reproduces the printed pictogram as printed. It does not add a rule for choosing X.
