Contents

  • 1 three-part beaver dam (one stream, two shore pieces)
  • 42 logs and 42 log disks in three colours (10 orange, 12 yellow, 20 brown logs)
  • 1 beaver
  • 1 wooden dowel

Object of the Game

Be the first to collect 2 brown, 2 orange and 2 yellow logs.

Insert Batteries

The beaver operates on two 1.5 V batteries, type LR44/A76/KA76/V13GA. The batteries must be inserted and replaced by an adult. The battery compartment is found on the beaver's stomach. Loosen the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Insert the batteries with the plus and minus poles correspondingly. Replace the cover for the battery compartment and screw into place.

Safety Instructions

  • Only use the recommended batteries or ones of a similar type!
  • Insert the batteries in the correct "+" and "-" positions!
  • Never short circuit the batteries by connecting the poles.
  • Do not combine batteries of different types (e.g. alkaline and zinc carbon), or used and new batteries.
  • Do not combine batteries of different quality, and do not combine rechargeable with non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Always replace both batteries.
  • Adult supervision is required when recharging batteries.
  • Never attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Rechargeable batteries must be removed from the unit before being charged.
  • Remove the batteries when they are empty or if the unit is not going to be used for a long period of time.

Dispose of any items marked with this symbol as follows: Do not put any of the game's electronic components in your household waste, but take them to the appropriate collection point at your local waste disposal site. Please heed your local ordinance for proper disposal of used batteries.

Care Instructions

  • Clean the surface with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use any cleaning agents.
  • Do not place the beaver in direct sunlight or near any heat source.
  • Be sure that the beaver does not get wet.
  • Never attempt to disassemble the beaver.

Trouble Shooting

Should the beaver not function properly, please try the following:

The sound is distorted, low in volume or slow in speed:

  • Check whether the batteries are inserted correctly.
  • Insert fresh batteries.
  • Turn off the beaver for a few seconds.
  • Remove the batteries for a few minutes and try again.

The beaver does not function when turned on:

Verify that the switch is in the "on" position.

Warning

Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small pieces which may present a choking hazard. Please retain these instructions as they contain important information.

Before Playing for the First Time

Assemble the logs by snapping in a matching coloured disk into the open end of each log.

Caution: Logs cannot be disassembled again, so be sure to only assemble matching colours.

Preparation

  • Snap the two shore pieces (left and right) onto the stream piece and place the beaver dam in the middle of the table.
  • Randomly stack the logs between the two shores. First place five logs onto the stream, then six logs on top, then five again, etc. The top row will consist of only four logs.
  • Find the switch on the beaver's stomach. Turn it on and carefully place him on top of the logs as shown. He may begin to chatter, but once he's settled, he'll quiet down.
  • Sit on either side of the table so that everyone can see and reach the logs.
  • Place the dowel beside the dam.

Let's Play!

The youngest player starts and play continues in a clockwise direction.

1. Removing Logs

On your turn, use the dowel to carefully push a log out of the dam without upsetting the beaver.

Place the dowel in the center of a log and push until the log falls out the other side.

You may not remove a log from the top row. If the colour you need is only in the top row, you may resort the log pile before continuing.

2. Watch the Beaver React

  • When the beaver takes no notice and remains silent: If you remove a log without causing the beaver to complain, you may keep the log and place it in front of you. Now it's the next player's turn.

Be sure to remove the log colour you need. If you push out a log colour of which you already have two, you must give it to a player who needs it. If you push out more than one log at the same time, you may only keep one and must give the other log to another player. If no other player needs that log colour, place it back on the log pile. Then it's the next player's turn.

  • When you disturb the beaver and he complains: If the beaver is disturbed or knocked off the dam, he will start complaining. Return the log to the dam and replace the beaver on top again. The beaver may complain for a moment longer, but he'll soon quiet down and the next player can take a turn. If a player moves the table and causes the beaver to complain, that player must return one of their logs to the dam.

End of the Game

As soon as a player has successfully collected two brown, two orange, and two yellow logs, they have won the game.

Game Variation

... for One Player

How many logs can you remove from the dam without the beaver noticing? Can you do 6 or even 9? Try to beat your own record for the most logs removed!

... for Advanced Players

On the log pile, balance the beaver face down on his nose or face up on his tail. The usual game rules apply.
