1. Components

  • 15 Yellow tiles (5 Rocks, 5 Scissors, 5 Paper)
  • 15 Blue tiles (5 Rocks, 5 Scissors, 5 Paper)
  • 15 Pink tiles (5 Rocks, 5 Scissors, 5 Paper)
  • 15 Green tiles (5 Rocks, 5 Scissors, 5 Paper)
  • Face up tiles (front)
  • Face down tiles (back)

2. Set-up

Each player builds a draw pile (face down) of all of the Tiles of a single color.

Special Rule (3 players): Place Tiles using the unplayed color as shown in the rulebook diagram (the example uses the pink Tiles). You therefore start with a pre-defined 3x3 grid to build upon.

Players start with a different number of Tiles in hand depending on their position in turn order:

  • 2 Players: First player — 3 Tiles. Second player — 4 Tiles.
  • 3 Players: First/second player — 2 Tiles. Third player — 3 Tiles.
  • 4 Players: First/second player — 2 Tiles. Third/Fourth player — 3 Tiles.

3. Victory

The game is played in rounds and each round scores 1 point. The first player to score 2 points wins the game.

You win the round when either:

  • 3 aligned tiles of yours are face up, either orthogonally or diagonally,

— OR —

  • 3 aligned tiles of yours are face down, either orthogonally or diagonally.

If no player can place a tile anymore, then the winner is the player with the most visible tiles. Ties are won by players later in turn order.

4. Gameplay

Choose the first player randomly. The player to the left of the first player will start the next round.

Players take turns clockwise. On their turn, players either place a face up tile or place a face down tile. If they can do neither, they Pass.

1. Place a Tile face up

Each face up Tile must be placed adjacent to an already placed Tile (either orthogonally or diagonally). Tiles may not extend beyond the range of a 5x5 grid (or a 4x4 grid if playing with 2 players).

If you place a Tile face up, you draw 2 Tiles.

2. Place a Tile face down

A Tile may be played face down on top of another Tile so long as it "beats" the covered Tile — including your own. Rock can cover Scissors. Scissors can cover Paper. Paper can cover Rock.

When playing a Tile face down, you do not draw. Face down Tiles can never be covered.

3. Pass

Only if a player cannot play or has run out of cards: they reveal their hand, and draw 2 Tiles.

Teamplay

In this 4 players mode, 2 teams composed of the players sitting across will fight each other with the same rules as the original mode with the following variations:

The team scoring 2 victory points wins the game. Each player can earn his team 1 point by aligning 3 tiles of his color.

If all the tiles are played, the team with the most visible tiles wins the point. Ties go to the team that played second during the round.

Note: During the game, the players cannot communicate, especially not on the tiles they hold or the play their partner ought to make.
