Aim of the game

Push lava chips into the lava streams and secure yourselves the best places in front of the volcano channels so that your dragon can fly furthest with the tastiest lava in their belly at the end. Who will win this awesome dragon game?

Content

  • 1 Volcano
  • 1 Game board with 8 channels
  • 1 Lava crater
  • 4 Dragons
  • 4 Dragon chips
  • 1 Dice
  • Lava chips: 56 x red, 12 x grey, 10 x orange and 8 x yellow
  • 1 Cloth bag

Once before the first game

First, push all the game material carefully out of the punched board.

Assemble the four dragons.

Before playing

Place so many coloured lava chips randomly in the holes provided in the volcano that there are no more free spaces. Put the remaining chips in the cloth bag.

Place the game board on top of the volcano and put the lava crater on the elevation provided.

Place the box with the volcano in the middle of the table and take out the rest of the game material.

Now, all choose a dragon and take the dragon chip of the same colour. Place them both down in front of you. The chip will remind you of the dragon colour you have chosen if you should happen to forget it in the course of the game.

Get the cloth bag with the rest of the lava chips and the dice ready.

How to play

The last player to have stroked a dragon begins. No-one? Then the youngest of you throws the dice first. Then continue playing in clockwise direction.

When it's your turn, you throw the dice on the lava crater. Draw out as many lava chips as shown on the dice without looking into the bag and place these face up in front of you. Then place your dragon with open mouth directly in front of a lava channel. All other players can position their dragons one after another in turn in clockwise direction in front of the still free lava channels.

Tip: Place your dragon in front of a lava stream in which you can see yellow (3 points), orange (2 points) or red (1 point) lava coming if possible! And keep away from the grey lumps that have already gone cold!

Once all players have found a place for their dragons, push your drawn chips one after another into one or different free lava channels. You can push all your chips into one channel or spread them over several channels.

But be careful: you can only push the chips into channels where no dragons are waiting.

Important: once you have started pushing a chip into a free channel, you must push it all the way in until you touch the game board with your finger. So, the chips may neither peek out of the lava stream nor be pushed in further beyond the stop.

Tip: In the unlikely event that a lava chip gets stuck, tap the chip that you want to push in in the lava stream lightly with your finger until the problem is solved.

When you push lava chips in at one point, chips fall out of the lava streams at the same time - right into the mouths of the hungry dragons if they are standing in front of the right channel! The lava chips are then simply collected in the dragons' bellies. When all the lava chips have been shared out, all players take back their dragons. It's best to give them a little shake to distribute the lava lumps evenly in the dragon's belly because they will stay there for the whole game.

Lava chips that fall onto the table are returned to the bag.

Then it is the next player's turn.

Tip for a 2-player game: if only two of you are trying to fill the dragons' hungry bellies, take the lava chips that have fallen down out of the game instead of putting them back in the bag.

End of the game

The game ends immediately when you are no longer able to draw the number of lava chips shown on the dice from the bag. Now the points are counted.

But watch out: if there is grey lava in the dragon's belly, this must be spit out together with the best lava chip. So, for every grey chip, you will have to give up your most valuable chip from the dragon's belly.

You can use the ladder on the back of these instructions to help you count the points. This is where you can use your dragon chip again. Place your dragon chip on the start field and move as many fields forward as the respective lava chip is worth. That is, one step for every red chip, 2 steps for an orange chip and 3 steps for a yellow chip. So, you count out all your chips one after another. At the end, you leave your dragon chip in its final position and the next player can count out their collected lava chips until all players have placed their dragon chips.

Example: Lara has collected 8 chips: 2 grey, 3 yellow, 1 orange, 2 red. She must put the two grey ones and two of her yellow chips to one side unfortunately. She may move 3 fields for the remaining yellow chip, 2 fields for the orange chip and 1 field each for the 2 red chips. She moves 7 fields altogether, so she has 7 points.

The winner is the player who was able to fly furthest through the power of the lava chips - and could place their own dragon chip the furthest forward on the counting ladder. If there is a draw, all players with an equal number of points win.

Tip for packing away: You can leave the game board, lava chips in the volcano and the volcano part assembled and put them back in the box after the game. The dragons can also stay assembled in the box. This makes it easier to set up for the next game!
