Objective of the Game

Try to score as many points as you can by collecting cards. To collect a card, you must be the last person with a finger touching the card. Simple, right? Remember that you will need your fingers to reveal or collect other cards. Should you give your all, or let go of your fish to try to collect other cards?

Components

  • 24 cards
  • 1 rulebook

Game Setup

Shuffle the 24 cards and form a draw deck. Place the deck face down within reach of the whole group. The person who is reading this rulebook is the first to play.

Playing the Game

Participants take turns in clockwise order. During your turn, you must carry out the following actions in order:

  1. Take the top card of the draw deck.

  2. Look at the card in secret, and place it face down near the draw deck.

  3. Place one of your fingers on the card and slowly, out loud, count down from 3 to 0. The other participants may place one of their fingers on that card during the countdown.

When the countdown reaches 0, no one else may add a finger to the card or exchange their placed finger for another. In other words, once the countdown ends, if a participant has not placed a finger on the newly placed card, they will not be able to do so later in the game.

  4. It is the next person's turn.

Important

  • When only one person has a finger on a card, that person must leave the card face up in front of them. If the card has an effect, that effect must be resolved immediately.
  • Participants may only use their fingers to handle the cards, even if to do so they must lift fingers that are resting on other cards. It does not matter how many fingers are used, as long as only fingers are used. You may not take cards with anything other than fingers!
  • One finger may touch only one card at a time. In other words, you may touch at most 10 cards at once.
  • At any moment you may withdraw your fingers from any of the cards you are touching. If you stop touching a card with a finger, even for an instant, you must withdraw that finger from that card.

End of the Game

The game ends when the last card of the draw deck is played. At that moment, all cards that still have fingers from more than one person on them must be discarded. Each participant must count how many points they have scored according to the cards in front of them. The person with the most points wins the game. In case of a tie, the person with the most cards in front of them (including effect cards) wins.

Tips

  • Do not move already-placed cards on purpose, and do not sabotage others when they try to take them.
  • You do not always need to use your free hand to take a card. Using your thumb and index finger is one of many possible tactics.
  • You may need to invent your own strategies to get others to take the card after you have checked its contents.

Cards

  • Point cards (+1 to +7): the participant who collects this card gains its points at the end of the game. Remember that at the end of the game, whoever has the most points wins.
  • Negative point cards (-1 to -3): these cards give negative points to whoever collects them. At the end of the game you may have more negative points than positive ones.
  • +6 / -3 cards: if at the end of the game you have only one of these cards, it gives you +6 points. But if you obtain a second one, the pair gives you -3 points in total. This repeats: a third card gives you +6 points. If at the end of the game you have three of these cards, you would get -3 + 6 = 3 points.
  • Effect cards: "Discard 1 card," "Remove 1 of your fingers from a card," and "Make another participant remove 1 finger from a card." The effects of these cards must be carried out immediately when the card is revealed. Cards discarded by the effect "Discard 1 card" must be permanently removed from the game.
    • You cannot discard effect cards.
