Overview

Last One Standing is a game of survival. Your goal is to be the only one left alive.

During the game there will either be island explosions causing a section of the board to be removed, and supply drops of a new loot crates!

During each turn you will choose and perform 2 of the following actions:

  • Move - move up the number of movement points your weight allows.
  • Shoot - attack with one of your weapons. (You may not move and shoot a Heavy Weapon on the same turn)
  • Use Item - Use any single use item from your hand.
  • Reload & Rearrange - Flip over and rearrange the cards you have equipped.

Order of play is in clockwise turn order.

Last One Standing is all about the loot. If you land on a loot crate at the end of your movement, pick up the number of items indicated on the other side of the token. Weapons picked up are classified by their rarity, compare them at a glance by their color and how many stars they have. But if you have more than 5 cards you'll need to discard your loot. (Mention 5 cards)

When you Use & Reload, players are allowed to unequip items on their character and to replace them with equipment from their hand. Have you been wanting to equip that shotgun and SMG you just drew to be a close-combat warrior, or that epic sniper rifle you've had in your hand to pick up enemies off at long range? This is your chance.

Weight determines how fast your character is able to move. All weapons and equipment placed on your character have a designated weight. More powerful equipment tends to be heavier so remember that the lighter you are the sooner your turn in the next round will be.

The game proceeds until all players are eliminated except for one. This player will be crowned the champion of Last One Standing: The Battle Royale Board Game!

Setup

1. Build the Island

  • Place the Center Tile in the middle of the playing surface.
  • Shuffle the remaining Land Tiles and place them according to the figures below.
    • For 2-5 players, count out 13 Land Tiles and place them like this.
    • For 6-8 players, count out 13 Land Tiles and place them like this.

2. Place Loot Tokens

Randomly place the Loot Crate Tokens face down onto all of the Loot Crate Icons on the game board.

3. Player Setup

Each player receives:

  • 1 Character Mat
  • 1 Character Standee
  • 1 Health Token (place on '10')
  • 1 Crowbar Card (place face-up on the Light Weapon slot)
  • 1 dice
  • 1 Weight Token (place on '0' of the Weight Track on the Game Mat).

Special Note: If you are playing DUOS mode, each player receives an AED card.

4. Game Mat

Place the Game Mat on the side for the indicated number of players.

5. Cards

  • Remove all Crowbar and AED cards from the Loot deck.
  • Shuffle the Loot, Supply Drop and Island Explosion decks and place them on the Game Mat.
  • Set the island explosion markers and supply crate tokens next to the Game Mat.

How to Play

  • Before starting the first round, each player must "Drop-In." Determine the first player using whatever method you wish. Play will proceed clockwise. This will also determine the player order during Round 1.
  • Place your character onto any Plains space. You cannot start on a Loot Crate.
  • After everyone has "Dropped-In", flip over the first Island Explosion card and place the Island Explosion markers on the side of the map indicated on the card. Use the icon on the center tile to determine where to place the markers.
  • While the shape of the board may not always be a hexagon, use the closest indicated side.
  • For each players first turn, do NOT place loot tokens onto the loot track.

Actions

Players take 2 "actions" during their turn. These actions are:

  • A) Move
  • B) Shoot
  • C) Use Item
  • D) Reload & Rearrange

A) Move

You may move the number of movement point shown on the Weight Track. If you finish your turn on a Loot Crate, perform the Looting Action described below. You may move through another player but cannot end your movement on a hex that is occupied.

Special Note: Some spaces have unique rules.

  • Forests and Deserts. 2 movement points are needed to cross.
  • Walls and Water. Can only be crossed with special equipment.

Looting

When you finish a move on a tile with a Loot Crate token, flip over the token and draw that many cards from the loot deck. Then place the loot token onto the Island Event track.

After drawing your Loot Cards you may equip drawn weapons, backpacks, armor and apparel to the empty slots on your character mat. Weapons and armor are equipped face down. The cards not equipped on your character mat go into your hand. You cannot rearrange or unequip items from your character when looting. You can only rearrange and unequip when you Use & Reload.

If you have more than 5 cards in your hand after equipping to your character (equipped items do not count towards the 5), you must reduce your hand down to 5 cards by discarding before ending your turn. Place them in the discard pile face up. If the Loot Card deck is empty, shuffle the discard pile and use as the new Loot Card deck.

NOTE: For each player's first turn, do NOT place loot token onto the loot track.

Island Event

Every time you place a loot token onto the Island Event track, you much check to see if you cover an Explosion or Supply Drop. When you do you immediately perform that event.

Island Explosion

Remove the side of the map that was marked in the previous round and all of the loot tokens on those tiles. Any players remaining on the removed tiles take 5 damage and are placed on the next-closest tile to the Center tile. Flip over the next Island Explosion card and place the Island Explosion markers on the appropriate side of the game map.

Supply Drop

Flip over the top supply drop card and place a supply crate at random on the indicated tile. If the tile does not have a corresponding marker on the game board, continue drawing cards until the indicated tile is on the game board.

OR

Place a Supply Drop token onto any forest, plains or desert space that is 5 or more spaces away from you. If you cannot place it, the Supply Drop is lost.

Terrain

  • Water - Cannot move through unless equipped with a Scuba Suit.
  • Plains - Unrestricted movement.
  • Forest - Difficult Terrain. Takes 2 movement points to enter. While in a Forest you are 'Hard to Hit'.
  • Desert - Difficult terrain. Takes 2 movement points to enter.
  • Wall - Cannot move through unless equipped with Climbing Gear. Blocks line of sight for shooting.
  • Tower - While on a Tower you have +1 and can shoot over Walls, but you can also be shot at.

B) Shoot

Use one of your Loaded Weapon cards to attack an enemy within range.

Note: Loaded weapon cards must be face-down on your Character Mat. To use a weapon, flip over the weapon card face-up, choose the target and decide whether you are using the Primary Fire or a Secondary Attack. You cannot use a weapon more than once per round unless otherwise indicated.

If a secondary ability lets you move, you are not allowed to also loot.

Line of Sight

The target enemy must be within line of sight. To determine line of sight, draw a straight line from the center of your tile to the target's tile. If half or more of the tile is "visible" that target is within your line of sight.

  • Hard to Hit: When somebody is Hard to Hit, you must roll the dice to determine if you hit or miss. On a result of 3 (three) or higher you hit and deal damage as normal.
  • Walls: Block line of sight.
  • Towers: When you're in a Tower, you are able to shoot over Walls and 1 space further. Opponents may shoot at you over Walls as well.

Shot Examples

  1. Riku and Yutu can shoot each other, however because Yutu is in a Forest, he is 'Hard to Hit'. (Riku must roll the dice to see if he hits Yutu)

  2. Riku and Norman can shoot each other.

  3. Riku and Ella can shoot each other because Ella is in a Tower.

  4. Riku and Katie cannot shoot each other because a Wall is between them.

C) Use Item

Using an item allows players to use one single-use item from their hand. After using the item, place the card in the Loot Discard pile.

D) Reload & Rearrange

Turn all weapons and armor face-down to show the items as loaded and ready to be used in the next round. You may also equip and unequip items from your character and hand. Switch any equipped cards between your hand and your Character Mat.

At the end of this action you must discard down to your hand limit of 5 (higher if equipped with a backpack) and move your weight marker on the weight track according to the weight of the cards equipped on your Character Mat.

Note: Cards in your hand do not affect your weight.

Winning the Game

Last One Standing ends as soon as there is only 1 player remaining on the board. That player gets to show the other players their best victory dance.

If the last players are all eliminated together, then you must all accept the bitter taste of defeat, and look on in awe as the game laughs at you.

Duos Mode

If you are playing with an even number of players (4, 6, or 8) You can play as duos.

Duos mode is the same game except you now have a partner. You will win as a team if either (or both) of you are the Last One(s) Standing.

Additional Rules

  • Each player starts with an AED card in their hand. AED cards allow you to revive an eliminated teammate. A teammate that has been looted cannot be revived.
  • Trading: If you end a movement action adjacent to your teammate, you may trade any number of your Loot Cards with each other.
  • Table talk is allowed. You may sit next to your partner, or not. Either way, the game is not affected.

Drafting Deathmatch

Setup the game normally. Before dropping in deal 7 cards to each player. Take one card and pass the remainder to the left. Continue this way until everyone has 5 cards. Drop in and choose between a 5 or 10 round match. If you are eliminated, do not discard your cards, rather perform a drop in at the end of the round. Keep a tally of how many "kills" each player has. Highest at the end of round 5 or 10 (depending on how long you chose) wins.

Use the Skull Tokens to keep track of your eliminations.
