Components
- 8 Role cards
Overview
You need more than luck to survive in this cold. Every ability and every trick could help you!
With this module, each player receives 2 Role cards at the start of the game. These give 2 advantages:
- a special ability that can be used during the whole game, and
- a personal goal for which you can receive additional Fame Points at the end of the game.
Setup
Shuffle all Role cards and deal 2 to each player. Look at your cards and decide which ability you want to use. Slide the corresponding card under the top edge of your player board, as shown, so that your ability and your role are visible.
Place your 2nd Role card face down in your "Active" area. This card states your personal goal, for which you can score additional Fame Points at the end of the game, if you meet it.
Notes on Goals
- Only the owner of a card can receive Fame Points for achieving its goal.
- A goal is scored if, at the end of the game, you are in first or second place in the category shown (a tie is enough). The stars show the reward: 2 Fame Points (shown as ★★) for first place and 1 Fame Point (shown as ★) for second place. Second place can only be reached if exactly one other player fulfils the category better than you do.
- In a 2-player game, the second-place bonus does not apply.
- The goal printed on the ability side of a card is irrelevant for this game, and so is the ability printed on the goal side.
The Roles
Each role card shows an ability and a goal. The scoring for each goal is: first place 2 Fame Points (★★), second place 1 Fame Point (★, only with 3 or more players).
Antreiberin (Taskmaster)
Ability: At the start of the game, cover 2 of the 3 spaces with Damage counters. The open space gives you a +1 bonus for performing one particular action in the Exploration area. From left to right, these actions are: upgrade the Convoy (Truck/Device), gather Resources/Equipment (location), and recruit Survivors (into the crew). You may decide again at the end of every round (Phase 5) which bonus you want to use in the next round; move the counters accordingly.
Goal: At the end of the game, have more crew members than any other player.
Bastler (Tinkerer)
Ability: Whenever you may draw 1 Equipment card, draw 2 and keep 1 of them. Discard the other.
Goal: At the end of the game, have more Equipment cards than any other player. (To receive the Fame Points, you must have at least 1 Equipment card.)
Büchsenmacherin (Gunsmith)
Ability: If you attack and you do not like the revealed result card, you may draw a 2nd card, which then applies (even if you like it less). You may do this once per attack, and it may be done several times in the same phase.
Goal: At the end of the game, stand higher on the Fame Track than any other player.
Kopfjäger (Bounty Hunter)
Ability: After an enemy is eliminated, its loot is distributed using the target markers and a result card. If you do not like the result card, you may draw a 2nd card, which then applies (even if you like it less). You may do this whenever you take part in distributing loot.
Goal: At the end of the game, have the Convoy with the fewest Damage counters.
Nitro-Fanatiker (Nitro Fanatic)
Ability: If, when Moving, you use additional fuel to increase your range, you receive 1 bonus of your choice: either +1 range in addition, or +2 range together with 1 Contamination counter and 1 Damage. You receive this bonus only once per movement, no matter how much additional fuel you use.
Goal: At the end of the game, have your Convoy at the front of the road, i.e. furthest forward.
Plünderer (Looter)
Ability: When you perform the Exploration action "Gather Resources", you may take 1 additional Resource of one of the Resource types you received. If you do, your Convoy suffers 1 Damage.
Goal: At the end of the game, have more Resources than any other player. (To receive the Fame Points, you must have at least 1 Resource.)
Schmugglerin (Smuggler)
Ability: You have 2 additional Cargo Boxes, each of which can hold any cargo type. They count as "in the Convoy", but they belong to none of the Convoy's areas, so hits that name an area (Ambush, result card) do not hit them. For hits without a target area, you must destroy one of these Cargo Boxes, unless you can or want to destroy another compartment instead. You may repair these compartments.
Goal: At the end of the game, have the Convoy with the most Truck and Device cards of any Convoy.
Strahlungsfachfrau (Radiation Specialist)
Ability: During Phase 1 (Exploration), your entire crew ignores the point deduction for contamination. The ability does not prevent a crew member from dying once the number of their Contamination counters reaches their Exploration value (including Food).
Goal: At the end of the game, have fewer contaminated crew members than any other player (regardless of how strongly they are contaminated).
