Icon Key
The printed card lists and the Action Tile hexagons use symbols. In this transcription they are written as follows:
- Orange coin: Coin (Money)
- Purple heart: Pride (the Action Tile text calls it Gengsi)
- Teal star: Skill
- Grey token with a number: any resource, paid or received as that number (in two Level 2 Job cards the same symbol is kept as printed; see the notes there)
- Grey hexagon: any Action Tile
- Brown cube: Action Token
- Brown hexagon: Stasiun tile
- Green hexagon: Lowongan tile (Jobs)
- Blue hexagon: Impian tile (Dreams)
- Orange hexagon: Kerja tile
- Purple hexagon: Nongkrong tile

Goal
Players compete to get the most Points until the deck of News cards ran out by moving Action tokens each turn.
Card Details
Each Job card shows:
- Required cost
- Job's name
- Illustration
- Job's effect
- Points
- Salary
- Job's Level
Game Setup
- Shuffle all Action Tiles and place them face-up forming circle of hexagons.
- Separate all Level 1 Jobs cards & randomly distribute one card face-up to all players. Shuffle the remaining cards along with the rest of the Jobs cards together, forming a Jobs deck; then place it next to the Jobs tile. All players aren't allowed to check the content of this deck freely.
- Shuffle all of the Dreams cards together & randomly distribute one card face down to all players. Put the rest of the cards next to a Dreams tile. All players aren't allowed to check the content of this deck freely too.
- Distribute all Action tokens randomly among the six Action tiles using any agreed methods (die roll, each player taking turns token placing, etc.), while making sure no tiles consist more than 4 tokens.
- Shuffle all News cards together and set aside the top 12 cards to be used in the game, forming a News deck. Put the rest of unused News card back in the box.
- Hand over the News deck to the player who most recently got out of town, that player becomes the first player.
How to Play
Laga Jakarta is split into several gameplay phases that can be described as follows:
News Phase
This phase only applies to the first player (the player who holds the News deck). Open the topmost card from the News deck, then read and apply & effect.
Salary Phase
Player receives their salary as stated in their latest Jobs card. If their Jobs card was fined and flipped face-down on the previous turn; flip back their Jobs card face-up instead and proceed to the next phase without receiving any salary.
Action Phase
Similar to mancala (or congklak in Indonesia), player choose one non-empty Action tile, taking all tokens inside that tile, and start distributing the token one by one to its adjacent action tiles in clockwise or counter-clockwise order until all tokens are distributed. Watch out for Fine that can trigger when a certain condition is met.
When player distribute/place their last Action token onto a tile, that tile effect is automatically triggered (more details in Action tiles section).
End Phase
When the Action Phase is resolved and the active player wish to trigger no more Jobs/Dream cards effect, the turn pass to the next player in the clockwise order.
Action Tiles
These effects are triggered automatically when a player place their last Action token onto one of these following Action tiles:
Kerja / Work
Receive 2 Coins.
Nongkrong / Hangout
Receive 2 Gengsi.
Training
Receive 2 Skill.
Impian / Dreams
Player takes as many Dreams card(s) as the number of token on that tile (and may look at additional card(s) by paying 1 of any resource per card), keeping 1 card at most; returning the rest to the bottom of the deck. Player then may complete a Dreams card they own by paying the required cost to the bank.
Lowongan / Jobs
Player takes as many Jobs card(s) as the number of token on that tile (and may look at additional card(s) by paying 1 of any resource per card), change to a new Job by paying the required cost to the bank if they want; returning the rest to the bottom of the deck. New Jobs card replaces old Jobs card's Salary and Effect.
Stasiun / Station
Pay 1 of any resource to copy one other Action tile effect. When counting for tokens, use tokens inside this tile instead.
- Players may see more Jobs or Dreams card(s) by paying any resources as much as the number of cards he/she wants to see.
Fine
- Player receives a fine when they cause any Action tiles to have more than 4 Action tokens during their turn. The corresponding player must flip their latest Jobs card face down immediately, deactivating the Job ability and not receiving salary on the next turn.
- Redistribute all Action tokens on that fined tile to each other Action tiles, one Action token per Action tile. Repeat this process until all Action tiles consist no more than 4 Action tokens.
- Landing on a Jobs/Dreams tile consisting of more than 4 Action tokens ALLOWS player to look at that many cards from the deck.
End Game
- The game ends when the first player unable to open a new card from the News deck. Tally and compare Points accumulated by each player.
- Points are counted from all completed Dreams and Jobs cards. Uncompleted Dreams card(s) deducts 1 Point per card.
- Player with the highest Points is the winner. In case of a tie; look for a player that completed more Jobs. If there's still a tie, look for a player with the furthest turn order.
Jobs Cards
Level 1
- ONDEL-ONDEL - ARBITRARY INCOME: May choose any resource as your salary.
- BENCONG - PRECINCT STAR: Gets 3 Pride every time you got fined.
- KERAK TELOR PEDDLER - JAKARTA'S SPECIALTY: Once per turn, gets 1 any resource whenever News card(s) reward player(s) with any resource.
- JOKI 3 IN 1 - FORTUNE STREET: Gets 1 Coin when other player moves exactly 3.
- ODONG-ODONG - DREAM PEDDLER: Gets 1 Skill when other player lands on a Lowongan (Jobs) or Impian (Dreams) tile.
- UMBRELLA OJEK - COLD RESISTANCE: May choose to ignore News card effect.
- BIRTHDAY CLOWN - ABRA-CADABRA: May transform any resource into one type of any resource before Action Phase.
- PAK OGAH - ONE-CENT POLICE: Gets 1 Coin when his neighboring player moves counter-clockwise.
Level 2
- TRAFFIC POLICE - FINE: Can't be fined & gets 1 any resource every time a fine occurs.
- SATPOL PP - RAID: May fine a player who doesn't have an uncompleted Dream card.
- DOLPHIN TRAINER - DOLPHIN JUMP: May jump over 1 [grey counter, as printed] once while moving. (Transcriber's note: this symbol is printed as a grey numbered counter, the same symbol used for "any resource" elsewhere, but the card text reads as a count of spaces/tiles. The printed symbol is kept as-is here rather than guessed.)
- BUSWAY DRIVER - TRANSIT: May activate an adjacent non-empty any Action tile when placing the last Action token.
- PROVOCATOR - HEARING DAMAGE: Can't be targeted by any Job card / Dream card effects.
- PAID AUDIENCE - TRENDY: May look at 1 extra card for free when landing on a Lowongan (Jobs) / Impian (Dreams) tile.
- VERMAK LEPIS - PATCHWORK: May pay 2 Coins less when changing to another Job card.
- BAJAJ DRIVER - 3 WHEELS CHAUFFEUR: Gets 1 any resource when other player lands on a Stasiun tile.
- TENABANG THUG - THUG LIFE: Other player must pay the cost of a Stasiun tile to him instead of the bank.
- NGO-JEK DRIVER - GPS: May choose to land on any Action tile when moving exactly 1.
- BOARD GAME DESIGNER - THE MASTER OF RULES: Once per round, you may swap 2 [grey counter, as printed] position along with any Action token on it. (Transcriber's note: the printed number here is attached to the same grey counter symbol; the card text is kept as printed.)
Level 3
- EMPLOYEE - BURIED DREAM: May return 1 uncompleted Dream card to the bottom of the deck.
- MLM AGENT - OLD FRIEND CALL: May choose a player to lose 1 Coin.
- CIVIL SERVANT - BACKROOM DEAL: Gets 1 any resource when other players land on a Lowongan (Jobs) tile.
- DANGDUT SINGER - MAKE IT RAIN: May choose not to receive Salary to take 1 Coin from all player(s) with lower Job level.
- YOUTUBE STAR - ENDORSEMENT: Gets 1 any resource discount to complete a Dream card.
- BOYBAND MEMBER - SIDEWAY: Can only move Action tokens in counter-clockwise direction.
- SPG - OPPOSITE SEDUCTION: May choose to take 1 Coin from a player with an opposite gender with the most Coins.
- PARANORMAL - PSYCHIC: May look at the top card from the Jobs / Dreams / News deck once per turn.
Level 4
- CONGRESSMAN - NAPTIME: zzzz... zzzzz....
- SOAP OPERA ACTRESS - VIP: Ignore the cost of 1 any resource when completing a Dream card.
- EXECUTIVE BUSINESSMAN - JETSET LIFESTYLE: Gets 1 any resource when you receive any resource from any Action tile.
- LANDLORD - LOCAL AUTHORITY: May choose to deactivate 1 other player Job ability until the start of Landlord's next turn.
Dreams Cards
Level 1
- MONAS SELFIE: Win a tie at the end of the game.
- WATCH PERSIJA MATCH: Receives Skill as many as number of players.
- PETTING RAGUNAN TIGER: Steal 1 any resource from all other players.
- GET CELEBRITY'S SIGNATURE: Steal Pride as many as their current Job level from all other players.
- BE ON TV: Receives your salary when you complete this Dream Card.
- TAKES ENGLISH COURSE: Return this card to the bottom deck to change into a level 2 Job card for free.
- HANDSHAKE WITH MR PRESIDENT: Peek at the top card from the Job / Dream deck once per turn.
Level 2
- HORROR MOVIE CAST: Pay 1 any resource less when you change Job card.
- IDOL AUDITION: Gets 1 extra Point if your latest Job card is Level 3 or more at the end of the game.
- HOMECOMING: All other players is Fined immediately.
- PROTESTING: May choose to ignore News card effects.
- SHOPPING SPHREE: No payment required when activating the Stasiun tile.
- JAKARTA ROUND TRIP: Receives 1 any resource whenever you move 3 or more.
- CREATE A BOARD GAME: Get 1 any resource when you land on a Nongkrong tile.
Level 3
- JOIN POLITICAL PARTY: Gets 1 extra point for each completed Dream card at the end of game.
- TANJIDOR ORCHESTRA: 1 extra point for each other player with lower Job level at the end of the game.
- RUN FOR PRESIDENT: Gets 1 bonus point for each Job card in possession at the end of the game.
- PILGRIMAGE: Immune to other players Job / Dream effects for the rest of the game.
- DISCUSSION WITH GOVERNOR: At the end of the game uncompleted Dream card doesn't deduct your point.
- MRT ROUTE DRAFT: Take an extra turn immediately without receiving Salary.
- BANJIR KANAL TIMUR'S BLUEPRINT: Receives 1 extra token when activating a Kerja / Nongkrong / Training tile.

News Cards
- PEKAN RAYA JAKARTA: All players with the lowest Job level gets 2 any resource.
- HEAVY TRAFFICE GRIDLOCK: All players must move 2 or less whenever possible.
- BUNDARAN HI PROTEST: All players lost their Job ability this turn.
- ABANG NONE JAKARTA: All players pay 1 any resource less when change Job card.
- SEASONAL FLOOD: Any resource received from any Action tile is reduced by 1.
- MRT PROJECT STARTED: All players can only move Action tokens in counter-clockwise direction.
- CAR FREE DAY: All players receives twice the amount of any resource from any Action tile.
- MEGA CONCERT: All players pays Coins as many as their current Job level.
- SALE MONTH: All players who have the least Pride receives 2 any resource.
- GOVERNOR INAUGURATION: Player receive 1 any resource and may keep up to 2 Dream cards when activating a Impian tile during this turn.
- PRESIDENT ELECTION: All players receive 1 any resource.
- BOMB THREATS: Any player who lands or activate a Lowongan (Jobs) / Impian (Dreams) tile is automatically Fined.
- MONETARY CRISIS: No salary for all players during this turn.
- CELEBRITY'S WEDDING RECEPTION: Pride token can substitute any Coin / Skill payment during this turn.
- NEW MALL GRAND OPENING: All players pays 1 Coin for each Dream card they own.
- INTERNATIONAL TABLETOP DAY: Players receive 1 any resource when landing on a Lowongan (Jobs) / Impian (Dreams) tile.
