Equipment
Nine dice for each player.
An optional game board. This can be a simple piece of paper or, if you've got a really good imagination, not.
The game plays equally well with an imagined play field.
On your turn
Roll a single die and place it in the row of your choice.
If your opponent has any dice of the same value in the row you chose, they must remove those dice and return them to their hand.
For example, if one player has two threes in the same row and their opponent rolls a three and chooses to put their three in that row as well, the first player must return their threes to their hand.
Play continues like this with players rolling, placing, and removing dice until one player has no dice remaining in their hand.
Scoring
Once a player has played all of their dice, scoring begins. The face value of all played dice are added up to determine a player's score with the following exceptions:
- If a player has 2 dice of the same value in the same 3 die row, each scores double face value.
- If a player has all 3 dice of the same value in a row, each scores triple face value.
So, if there are 2 sixes in the row they are each worth 12 points for a combined score of 24. If there are 3 fives in the row they are worth 15 points each for a combined score of 45.
The blue player has 3 fours in the first row (12 points each) and 2 ones (2 points each) in the second row for a total score of 53.
In this example, all of yellow's dice count as face value except for the 2 ones in the first row (they count as 2 points each) for a total score of 29.
Note: as printed, the blue example does not reconcile arithmetically. 3 fours at 12 points each is 36, and 2 ones at 2 points each is 4, which gives 40 rather than 53. The figures are reproduced as printed.
Winning
The player with the most points is the winner.
