Components and Card Anatomy

  • Fox cards (the deck, the Track and each player's hand, Party and discard pile are all made of these)
  • A First Player card

Each Fox card shows:

  • Card name (top left).
  • Hero banner (top right): a pair of hero icons. Some scoring rules refer to these icons.
  • Card ability (middle): this takes effect when the card is recruited from the Track.
  • Scoring rules (bottom): the points the card scores at the end of the game, for example "3 points for each Fox card in the discard pile."

Game Setup

  1. Shuffle all Fox cards.

  2. Deal each player 4 cards. These are the players' hands.

  3. Lay out 5 cards face up in a line in the middle of the play area. This row is the Track. Each position on the Track has a cost, which is the number of cards you must discard from your hand to recruit the Fox in that position.

    Position on the Track12345
    Cost of the card00123
  4. Place the remaining cards face down as the Draw Pile near the Track. Set aside a space for a face-up discard pile.

  5. Choose a first player and give them the First Player card, which serves as a reminder.

Tip: to remember the costs, place 1 token above the 3rd card, 2 tokens above the 4th card and 3 tokens above the 5th card. You can use the cheese tokens from the Fox Matters board game (Liski: Ojojanie!).

Turn Order

The game is played in turns. On their turn, a player:

  1. Recruits a Fox from the Track.
  2. Resolves the ability of that Fox.
  3. Places the recruited Fox face up in their Party.
  4. Slides the cards on the Track to the left.
  5. Draws from the Draw Pile into their hand as many cards as there are empty spaces on the Track (usually 1).
  6. Refills the Track with any cards from their hand.

Cards in Hand

Cards in hand may be played only in exceptional circumstances. Primarily, treat them as resources for recruiting Foxes from the Track. Be careful, though: the game has various scoring conditions. Sometimes you score points for cards in your hand, and other times for cards in the discard pile.

Card Abilities

A card's ability is activated only when the card is recruited directly from the Track. If a card appears in a Party for any other reason, do not resolve its ability.

Resolve an ability to the greatest possible extent. If an action on a card cannot be performed, place the card in your Party with no additional effects.

End of the Game

The game ends when the last card is drawn from the Draw Pile.

If the last card is drawn by the player holding the First Player card, the second player must play one more turn, so that both players have taken the same number of turns.

Then each player totals the points on the Fox cards in their Party, using the scoring rules printed on those cards. The player with the most points wins. In case of a tie, the second player wins.

Translator's note: the English draft reads "can make his last turn" where the Polish rulebook reads "must" (musi). This translation follows the Polish text.

Example Cards

Listerka ("She collected them all")

  • Ability: another player takes the top Fox card from the discard pile into their hand.
  • Scoring (as printed on the card): 3 points for each Fox card in the discard pile.

Lisandra ("Builds a portfolio")

  • Ability: place a Fox card from your hand into another player's Party.
  • Scoring (as printed on the card): 2 points for each Fox card in another player's Party. In the 3- and 4-player game, see the scoring note below.

3- and 4-Player Game

To play with more players, combine the cards of 2 copies of the game and follow these changes to setup and play.

  1. Remove the following Fox cards from the deck and return them to the box: "Meliska", "Serward", "Serafina" and "Koszmarek".

  2. Choose a first player and give them the First Player card. Return the other First Player card to the box.

  3. Lay out a Track of 6 cards.

    Position on the Track123456
    Cost of the card000123
  4. If the last card from the Draw Pile is drawn by a player other than the last player, each player takes 1 additional turn, so that all players have taken the same number of turns.

Scoring "Lisandra" in a 3- or 4-player game: choose only 1 player. That player scores the points for the Fox cards in their Party.
