The 3 Basic Rules
Anyone who ignores these rules must klattschen.
- The word "trinken" (German for "to drink") may not be used. This also applies to its forms, such as "trinkst", "getrunken", "trink!", and so on.
- You must always drink with your left hand.
- Swearing is not allowed.
Translator's note: rule 1 refers to the German word "trinken" as printed. The rulebook does not give an English equivalent.
Game Flow ("klattschen")
At the start, the card game, shuffled beforehand, is laid out face down in a circle around an empty glass. This glass is the so-called Klattschglas. The players then sit in a circle around the cards. Each player now needs a full glass.
The players take turns drawing one card each from the circle of cards and turning it over. The individual cards state exactly what must be done. In addition, the 3 basic rules must be observed; they apply for the whole game. If someone breaks one of these basic rules, they must take a sip of their drink as a penalty. In the game this is also called "klattschen."
The rulebook does not print the instructions for the individual cards. These are printed on the cards themselves and are not part of this document.
End of the Game
The loser of the game is the player who draws the fourth and therefore last KLATTSCHGLAS card. That player must drink up the entire Klattschglas.
