Objective
The objective of the game is to gather 3 kitsune of each color (Red, Blue and Yellow) if you are playing with 2 to 4 players. For 5 and 6 players you must gather 2 kitsune of each color. If at the end of your turn you have the required number of foxes, you win immediately.
Game Setup
Deal each player 3 PURPLE cards, one of each type: NO!, KEEP GOING and AGAIN.
Shuffle the rest of the cards and place them forming a face-down deck within reach of all players.
Gameplay
All the cards in the game have a color and there are 6 colors in total. The youngest player takes the first turn, and play then continues clockwise.
- On their turn, each player reveals a card and places it face up in the center of the table.
- Next they must decide whether to stop or to keep revealing cards:
- If they decide to reveal another card, they place it face up to the right of the previous one and compare its color with those already revealed in their turn. If the new card repeats a color that has already been revealed, they discard all the revealed cards and the turn passes to the next player. If the color is not repeated, they may keep revealing cards until they decide to stop or lose their turn.
- If they decide to stop, they must resolve all the cards they revealed, in the order they choose.
Card Resolution
RED, BLUE and YELLOW kitsune cards
Take them to your play area. You must stack them by color, showing how many you have of each. Remember that if at the end of your turn you have the required quantity of each color, you win the game.
GREEN Renewal cards
Swap all the kitsune cards of one color in your play area for all the cards of the same color in another player's play area. Blocked cards (see ORANGE cards) cannot be swapped, whether they are yours or the other player's.
If you have no card of a color, or all the ones you have are blocked, you can still make the swap, taking the other player's unblocked cards without handing over anything in exchange.
ORANGE Prosperity cards
Rotate 90 degrees one of your kitsune cards in your play area to block it. When a card is blocked, it can no longer be swapped by a Renewal card and you cannot lose it in any way.
PURPLE Oni cards
Take all PURPLE cards into your hand.
The Oni have different abilities. All the cards are played from your hand instantly, when you have the opportunity:
- AGAIN (OTRA VEZ): You can play this card when, upon revealing a card, you get a repeated color. Instead of losing your turn, discard this card and the card that made you lose, and reveal a new one. You must keep the new result obtained.
- KEEP GOING (SIGUE): You can play this card when another player decides to stop in order to keep the cards they have at that moment. Discard this card to force them to reveal one more card and keep that result.
- NO!: You can use this card at any time to cancel the effect of any GREEN, ORANGE or PURPLE card. Discard this card and the cancelled one, and ignore the effect of that card. You can play it to cancel another previous NO!
All obtained cards must be resolved. You may choose the order in which you resolve them but you cannot ignore the effect of any, even if it harms you.
End of the Game
The game ends when a player finishes their turn with three cards of each of the 3 elemental kitsune, in games of 2 to 4 players; or with two cards of each in games of 5 to 6 players.
If the deck runs out before any player has gathered the necessary kitsune, shuffle the discard pile and keep playing. If the deck runs out for a second time, the game ends immediately and the player with the most kitsune wins the game. In case of a tie, the player with the most blocked kitsune wins, and if the tie persists the youngest player wins.
