Scenario 1: The Re-Opening
In your fully renovated restaurant it has become quiet. When the guests stayed away, the office became superfluous, so you brought your old arcade machine back from the cellar.
You decide to take the new start slowly and to prepare only simple dishes at first. If these are well received, you can expand the menu again. Your storerooms are empty, so you should use your remaining money to shop at the market. And this time, remember to season your dishes.
Setup
-
Prepare the game board. Assemble the game board as shown: top row B1, B2, B3, B4; bottom row B5, B6, A7, B8.
-
Preparations for 2 and 3 players.
- Two players: Cover all action spaces marked with the two-player symbols (shown as icons in the printed rulebook) with "Not available" markers. Also place 1 "Reserved table" card on each of the two lowest places in the dining room.
- Three players: Cover all action spaces marked with the three-player symbol (an icon in the printed rulebook) with "Not available" markers. Also place 1 "Reserved table" card on the lowest place in the dining room.
-
Run-down restaurant. Place 1 "Malfunction" marker on an action space at the stove. Place 1 "Broken Table" card on the lowest place in the dining room that does not yet have a "Reserved table" card on it. Place 1 "Not available" marker on the lowest available action space in the dining room (Take an order). In addition, one storeroom is not available to you: place 1 "Not available" marker on each of the two action spaces of storeroom A7.
-
Prepare the storerooms. You start this scenario with no ingredients. Set aside the fruit and cream; you do not need them in this scenario. Place the remaining ingredients within easy reach as a general supply next to the game board.
-
Prepare the spice bag. Fill the spice bag with the following spices:
Spices
Note on the setup: The printed rulebook repeats the complete setup in each scenario. A step marked with an exclamation mark deviates from the previous scenario; a step marked "New" uses new material; a step marked with a question mark is relevant to your investments and may be ignored or modified if you have made the matching investment. Steps without a marker are identical to the previous scenario.
New Rules
New element: Private Salaries. Your home rent also has to be paid. At the end of each shift, each of you receives a salary of 3 coins for each of your hourglasses, so 6 coins in total. This means: after scoring at the end of each shift (after all income and all free drinks), each player returns 6 coins per player to the general supply. These salaries represent your (unfortunately only fictional) pay.
Note: If you cannot pay the salary of an hourglass at the end of a shift, you lose immediately.
New element: 4 Shifts. You play 4 shifts, each lasting 4 minutes (Normal) or 5 minutes (Family). At the end of each shift you receive income, you may have to pay for free drinks, and in any case you must pay salaries.
New element: Separated goods. Bread and pasta must be stored separately from other goods. Use storeroom B5 for bread and pasta. In that storeroom you may not store other ingredients. In storeroom B3 you may only store meat, vegetables, salad and cheese.
Reminder: Storeroom A7 is not available to you (yet). Once that changes, you may also store only meat, vegetables, salad and cheese there.
Note: All further rules you may know from scenarios 5–8 of the base game are introduced in the later scenarios. Until then, play without them.
Scenario Goal
Earn the required number of coins, after subtracting salaries.
Important: If you reach the goal at the end of the 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift, you have won this scenario immediately. Do not play the remaining shift(s).
| Players | Goal (Normal) |
|---|---|
| 2 players | 8 coins |
| 3 players | 12 coins |
| 4 players | 16 coins |
Challenge Mode
As in the base game scenarios, the expansion offers a more demanding goal for each scenario. Can you reach all goals?
| Players | Goal (Challenge) |
|---|---|
| 2 players | 10 coins |
| 3 players | 15 coins |
| 4 players | 20 coins |
If you do not reach the required goal, you must repeat the scenario.
After Scenario 1: Naming and Investments
Give your restaurant a name. The last page of this rulebook contains several record sheets on which you can record your restaurant's progress. Write the restaurant's name there and enter the names of the people playing (the owners). If you later play in a different combination, you may use a new record sheet. In this way you can save several games and resume them at any time.
Investing in the restaurant. In this expansion you decide for yourself, this time, in which direction to develop your restaurant. After each scenario you may invest the coins you earned in the restaurant. Depending on the number of players, the investments have different costs. Each investment can be made exactly once. Investments made once remain for the rest of the story; this is why they are called "permanent investments." After each scenario you may make at most 2 permanent investments. Mark your chosen investments in the left column of your record sheet. Coins you do not invest are carried over to your record sheet after each scenario. You place these coins on your money box at the start of the next scenario. Think carefully about how many coins you want to start the next scenario with before each investment.
After scenario 1 you may make the following investments. The costs given apply with 2, 3 or 4 players.
- 1 set of new plates (2/3/4 coins): In future scenarios, place 1 additional plate of each size in the cupboard for clean plates.
- Note: This also applies to the "Sundae" plate in later scenarios.
- Repair table (4/6/8 coins): In future scenarios, 1 additional place in the dining room is available to you. Ignore the setup instruction that asks you to place the "Broken Table" card on a place in the dining room.
- Additional waiter (4/6/8 coins): In future scenarios, 1 additional action space in the dining room is available to you. Ignore the setup instruction that asks you to place a "Not available" marker on the lowest action space in the dining room.
- Repair stove (6/9/12 coins): In future scenarios, 1 additional action space at the stove is available to you. Ignore the setup instruction that asks you to place a "Malfunction" marker on an action space at the stove.
- New storeroom (6/9/12 coins): In future scenarios, the storeroom on game board A7 is available to you for meat, vegetables, salad and cheese. Ignore the setup instruction that asks you to place "Not available" markers on its action spaces. From the second scenario on, stock storeroom A7 with the same ingredients as storeroom B3.
- Training ("Fortbildungen", 6/9/12 coins): In future scenarios, the training cards are available to you.
- Note: The two cards "Advanced Refrigeration" and "Molecular Cuisine" may only be used from the 4th and 5th scenario on. If you invest in training earlier, you may need to set these two cards aside in the first scenarios.
Training. Once you have made the training investment: at the start of each scenario, shuffle the training cards and deal 1 card to each player. Each player places the card face up in front of them. Each card offers a unique benefit that you may use once per shift. To use the benefit, turn the card over onto its back. Turn it back face up at the end of each shift. You keep your card for all 4 shifts of the scenario. At the end of the scenario, return the cards to the cards that were set aside.
Card texts printed on the training cards that appear in the rulebook: "Advanced Refrigeration" (Kältetechnik für Fortgeschrittene): "Once per shift you may perform the action Chill dessert without placing an hourglass." The text of the other training cards, including "Molecular Cuisine," is on the cards themselves and is not reproduced here.
Decide now. You may now make up to 2 permanent investments and pay for them. Write them down, together with the remaining coins, on your record sheet.
Scenario 2: Service, Service!
The fresh start has succeeded. To offer sweet desserts you must expand your restaurant and buy a freezer chest – but the money is not enough. Not yet. To earn the money you need, you extend your menu with more elaborate dishes, and thereby attract more demanding guests to your restaurant. Don't take too much time over each guest, because time is money.
Setup
In this and all future scenarios you repeat the complete setup. Steps that deviate from the previous scenario are marked with an exclamation mark, steps with new material are marked "New", and steps relevant to your investments are marked with a question mark.
-
Prepare the game board. Assemble the game board as in scenario 1: top row B1, B2, B3, B4; bottom row B5, B6, A7, B8.
-
Preparations for 2 and 3 players. As in scenario 1:
- Two players: Cover all action spaces marked with the two-player symbols with "Not available" markers. Place 1 "Reserved table" card on each of the two lowest places in the dining room.
- Three players: Cover all action spaces marked with the three-player symbol with "Not available" markers. Place 1 "Reserved table" card on the lowest place in the dining room.
-
Run-down restaurant. (Question mark: relevant to your investments.) Place 1 "Malfunction" marker on an action space at the stove.
(Exclamation mark and question mark.) Set aside the fruit and cream; you do not need them in this scenario. Stock the storerooms with the following ingredients ("each" means the stated number of each ingredient):
| | Storeroom B3: cheese | Storeroom B3: salad | Storeroom B3: meat | Storeroom B3: vegetables | Storeroom B5: bread | Storeroom B5: pasta | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | 2 players | 2 each | 2 each | 4 each | 4 each | 2 each | 2 each | | 3 players | 3 each | 3 each | 5 each | 5 each | 3 each | 3 each | | 4 players | 4 each | 4 each | 6 each | 6 each | 4 each | 4 each |
Place the remaining ingredients within easy reach as a general supply next to the game board.
New Rules
New element: Demanding patrons. From now on, demanding patrons also want to dine with you. Their orders usually need more ingredients than before and/or have a longer cooking time. In return, they pay more when you serve the dish they wanted.
New element: Reputation. Demanding patrons now give your restaurant a good rating when you prepare the dish they wanted. Record these ratings on the new reputation board. Each time a demanding patron pays coins at the end of a shift, your reputation increases by an additional 1. To do this, move the reputation marker 1 field to the right.
At the end of a shift, your reputation decreases by 1 for each demanding patron whose order you have taken but not yet completed (not started, not finished, or incorrectly prepared). To do this, move the reputation marker 1 field to the left.
Note: Even if a demanding patron does not receive their order at the end of a shift and your reputation therefore decreases by 1, that patron keeps waiting for their food. In the next shift you can prepare it as usual, and then you receive the coins shown on the card plus 1 reputation.
Important: Demanding patrons do not receive a free drink.
New action: Throw out patrons. From now on you may actively decide against waiting patrons and throw them out. To do so, place your hourglass on the action space in the reception area and place 1 or 2 patrons from the dining room face up on a discard pile for patrons. You must immediately fill the freed seats with new patrons. Because those patrons have seen the ejection, they do not order a drink, so you receive no coins. At least your reputation does not suffer.
New element: Awards. Some fields on the reputation board are highlighted in color. In the upper right corner of these fields are 2, 3 or 4 chef's hats. In the game, these fields are the thresholds for awards at 2, 3 or 4 players. If your reputation reaches or exceeds such a field at the end of a shift, and the number of chef's hats matches your number of players, you receive an award. Draw the top card of the award stack and place it face up on the first free field to the right of the highlighted field.
Awards usually give you an advantage in the following shifts, for example a few extra seconds per shift or the ability to wash more plates than before. Awards you receive apply only to the current scenario. In total you can receive up to 3 awards per scenario.
If your reputation later falls below a field whose chef's hats match your number of players, you must return the most recently received award. Simply place it back on the award stack.
New action: Serve. From now on you can serve guests while a shift is still running. To do so, place your hourglass on an action space in the dining room. Instead of taking a new order, immediately turn over the card of 1 guest whose dish you have already cooked. Take 1 coin immediately and place it on the money box.
Note: At the end of the shift, check whether you prepared the guest's dish correctly. If so, the guest pays the coins shown on the card as usual, and your reputation may increase.
If you notice that you made a mistake during the cooking process (for example, the cooking time, plate size or combination of ingredients is wrong), the guest is especially dissatisfied. In that case your reputation decreases by 1, in addition to the general rules for waiting guests (see the previous page). This applies equally to friends, regular patrons and demanding patrons.
Example: Jürgen has taken the order of a demanding patron and believes he has finished the cooking process. To collect an extra tip, he places his hourglass again on an action space "Take an order" in order to perform the action "Serve". He turns over the guest's card. For this he immediately takes 1 coin and places it on the money box. At the end of the shift he realises, to his dismay, that spices are missing from his plate. Since this is a demanding patron, your reputation decreases by 2 (by 1 because he turned the card over, and by 1 because a demanding patron had to wait). Jürgen does not have to pay for a free drink. The dish can be finished by Jürgen in the next shift.
Scenario Goal
Serve the following number of guests by the end of the 4th shift.
| Players | Goal (Normal) |
|---|---|
| 2 players | 14 guests, including at least 5 demanding guests |
| 3 players | 21 guests, including at least 7 demanding guests |
| 4 players | 28 guests, including at least 9 demanding guests |
Collect the served guests on a separate stack.
| Players | Goal (Challenge) |
|---|---|
| 2 players | 18 guests, including at least 7 demanding guests |
| 3 players | 27 guests, including at least 10 demanding guests |
| 4 players | 36 guests, including at least 13 demanding guests |
If you do not reach the required goal, you must repeat the scenario. Start again with the investments you have already made and the coins carried over from scenario 1. Both figures can be found on your record sheet. If you succeed, transfer the reputation you earned to your record sheet.
After Scenario 2: Investments
After completing the scenario you may invest in your restaurant again. All investments from the first scenario are available to you, as long as you have not already made them. From now on you may choose from 3 further permanent investments:
- 1st temp worker hired (4/6/8 coins)
- 2nd temp worker hired (4/6/8 coins)
- Specialist hired (6/9/12 coins)
Temp workers. If you hire a temp worker, 1 white hourglass (per temp worker) is available to you in future scenarios. It may be used by every player to take actions. (You may also alternate using it for your own actions.) Temp workers also receive a salary of 3 coins each at the end of every shift, but they help you meet the goals more easily in the following scenarios.
Specialist. If you hire the specialist, 1 purple hourglass is available to you in future scenarios. It may be used by every player to take actions. (You may also alternate using it for your own actions.) In addition, the specialist performs certain actions much better than all other hourglasses.
When you set up any further scenario, shuffle the specialist cards and place 3 of them face up next to the game board. Each of these cards describes 1 action the specialist can perform much better. If you use such an improved action with the specialist, immediately turn that card over onto its back. For the rest of the current shift you may only perform the "normal" action with the specialist.
At the end of each shift (before paying private salaries), pay 1 coin for each turned-over specialist card. Then turn the card back face up. In the next shift you may again perform the improved action with the specialist.
Important: When you hire the specialist, immediately add the award "Highly Specialized" to the available awards. Its printed text reads: "Draw 1 additional specialist card during setup (normally 4)."
Note: The two specialist cards "Efficient" and "Ice Cold" may only be used from the 4th and 5th scenario on. If you have already hired the specialist, set these two cards aside in the first scenarios.
Specialist card "Efficient" (printed text): "If you use the action Chill dessert with the specialist, you may chill any number of your dishes any number of times."
Scenario 3: The Electrics Fail
A successful film star who was once a regular at your restaurant mentions it in an interview. The press then turns its spotlight on the fate of your restaurant. Since you are now on everyone's lips, the VIP guests come back. Raise your restaurant's reputation so that it lasts.
Unfortunately, a large part of your electrics has failed, so today you have to do without a stove. And because the lights in the storerooms do not work, they should never be entered by more than one person at a time. You have already called a technician, but it is to be feared that you must accept these additional restrictions for today.
Setup
Check your investments to see which setup steps you may ignore or modify.
-
Prepare the game board. Assemble the game board: top row B1, B2, B3, B4; bottom row B5, B6, A7, B8.

Place 1 "Not available" marker on the lowest available action space in the dining room. In addition, place 1 "Not available" marker on each of the two action spaces of storeroom A7.
-
Prepare the storerooms. Set aside the fruit and cream; you do not need them in this scenario. Stock the storerooms as follows ("each" means the stated number of each ingredient):
| | Storeroom B3: cheese | Storeroom B3: salad | Storeroom B3: meat | Storeroom B3: vegetables | Storeroom B5: bread | Storeroom B5: pasta | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | 2 players | 2 each | 2 each | 4 each | 4 each | 2 each | 2 each | | 3 players | 3 each | 3 each | 5 each | 5 each | 3 each | 3 each | | 4 players | 4 each | 4 each | 6 each | 6 each | 4 each | 4 each |

-
Stock the cupboards with clean plates.
- 2 players: 2 of each of the first three plate sizes, 1 of the largest size
Note on the markers: As in scenario 2, the printed rulebook marks steps that deviate from the previous scenario, steps with new material and steps relevant to your investments. The exact placement of the question marks in this scenario's setup is not reproduced here; check the printed rulebook for it.
New Rules
New element: VIP guests. VIP guests now also want to dine with you. Their orders always consist of 2 parts: 1 main dish and 1 side dish. At the end of a shift both parts must be fulfilled for the guest to pay the coins shown. VIP guests increase your reputation by 2 when they are satisfied.
If at the end of a shift 1 or more parts of the order are missing (because of errors or an incomplete cooking process), your reputation decreases by 2. You do not have to pay for a free drink.
Reminder: If you serve a guest their dish early and you have made a mistake (or have not finished the cooking process), your reputation decreases by an additional 1. For a VIP guest, that is 3 in total.
As usual, these guests stay in your restaurant if they do not receive their dish at the end of a shift. All other rules apply to this group of visitors as well.
Scenario Goal
By the end of the 4th shift, reach the required reputation.
| Players | Goal (Normal) | Goal (Challenge) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 players | 8 reputation | 12 reputation |
| 3 players | 12 reputation | 18 reputation |
| 4 players | 16 reputation | 24 reputation |
If you do not reach the required goal, you must repeat the scenario. Start again with the investments you have already made and the coins carried over from scenario 2. Both figures can be found on your record sheet. After completing the scenario you may invest in your restaurant again. Transfer the reputation you earned to your record sheet.
Scenario 4: Desserts
Your electrical problems could be solved. The attention from the VIP guests has ensured that some regular guests have helped you out financially, so you finally have the money needed to expand the restaurant. You immediately hire the craftsmen and sign the necessary contracts. The exterior wall of the restaurant is moved to make more room for the newly created pastry shop. Because of the renovation you have to close the restaurant for several weeks, but you hope to reach more guests later on. You can certainly put the time you gain to good use, all the more so because you have not spent all your donations.
With some problems and a small delay, your new area is soon finished: a pastry shop of its own. With the new area in the kitchen, the requirements for purchasing also increase. Fruit and cream should never be missing, so that you can quickly fulfil the guests' wishes. Only the delivery of the new freezer chest is delayed …
Setup
Additional investments: You immediately receive 10 coins and may immediately make up to 2 permanent investments. You may use the coins you saved at the end of scenario 3 for this. Then continue the setup. Adjust your remaining coins on your record sheet if necessary.
Note: Check your investments to see which setup steps you may ignore or modify.
-
Prepare the game board. (New.) Assemble the game board: top row B1, B2, B3, B4; bottom row C5, B6, A7, B8. The pastry shop is at C5.
-
Preparations for 2 and 3 players. As in scenario 2.
-
Run-down restaurant. Place 1 "Malfunction" marker on an action space at the stove. Place 1 "Broken Table" card on the lowest place in the dining room that does not yet have a "Reserved table" card on it. Place 1 "Not available" marker on the lowest available action space in the dining room. In addition, place 1 "Not available" marker on each of the two action spaces of storeroom A7.
-
Prepare the storerooms. (New.) Stock the storerooms as follows ("each" means the stated number of each ingredient):
B3: cheese, salad, cream, fruit B3: meat, vegetables C5: bread, pasta 2 players 2 each 4 each 2 each 3 players 3 each 5 each 3 each 4 players
New Rules
New spice: Cocoa. From now on you have 1 new spice available: cocoa. You also store cocoa in the spice bag. When you go shopping for cheap spices, you may now also choose cocoa (in addition to salt or sugar (white), pepper or seeds (black), and herbs (green)).
New ingredients: Cream and fruit. Cream and fruit are 2 additional ingredients that you must store in your refrigerated storerooms (the storerooms B3 and A7 on the game board, printed as "3B" and "7A" in the rulebook). When you go shopping, you may choose, as a new option for 1 coin, either 5 cream or 5 fruit.
From now on use the new shopping overview cards with an A in the lower left corner.
New element: Sweet tooth patrons. Sweet tooth patrons ("Schleckermäulchen") are a new group of guests. All sweet tooth patrons order a dessert. Otherwise this group behaves exactly like all other patrons. If the guest card shows no star, the rules for regular patrons apply. If the guest card shows a star, the rules for demanding patrons apply.
New action: Chill dessert. Some desserts must be chilled. If a guest card shows a cooking time and additionally a cooling time, you must first prepare the dish (dessert) as usual. As soon as the dish has been cooked as many times as indicated and all the required spices are on the plate, you may chill it.
To chill it, place your hourglass on a "Fridge" action space in the newly set up pastry shop (game board C5). Then move exactly 1 plate 1 column to the left: first into column 1, and with a further action into column 2.
Example: Gisela prepares a chocolate Baumkuchen. First she takes 1 plate of the indicated size. Then she fetches all the ingredients from the storerooms and cooks the dessert 1 time. Afterwards she places the needed cocoa on the plate. Only now may the dessert be chilled. For this she places both of her hourglasses, one after the other, on the "Fridge" action spaces in the newly built area of the restaurant. She first moves the plate to column 1 and then to column 2.
The printed rulebook shows the "Chill dessert" action spaces in an illustration on page 13.
Scenario Goal
Serve the following number of guests by the end of the 4th shift.
| Players | Goal (Normal) | Goal (Challenge) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 players | 14 guests, including at least 8 sweet tooth patrons | 18 guests, including at least 8 sweet tooth patrons |
| 3 players | 21 guests, including at least 9 sweet tooth patrons | 27 guests, including at least 12 sweet tooth patrons |
| 4 players | 28 guests, including at least 12 sweet tooth patrons | 36 guests, including at least 16 sweet tooth patrons |
Collect the served guests on a separate stack.
If you do not reach the required goal, you must repeat the scenario. Start again with the investments you have already made and the coins carried over from scenario 3. Both figures can be found on your record sheet.
Note: In this case you do not receive the 10 coins again, and you may not invest again.
After completing the scenario you may invest in your restaurant again. Transfer the reputation you earned to your record sheet.
Short-Term Investments
From now on, in addition to the permanent investments, you also have short-term investments available. You may make these at the end of the setup of each scenario. They only help you in the respective scenario. You may make each short-term investment exactly once in each scenario.
- Additional supplies (3/3/3 coins): In this scenario you start with 1 additional ingredient of each type in each storeroom.
- Additional spices (3/3/3 coins): In this scenario you start with 1 additional spice of each type in the spice bag.
- Additional time (4/6/8 coins): In this scenario you have 15 additional seconds in each shift (30 in the family version).
- Advertising (4/6/8 coins): In this scenario you start with 4 reputation.
Decide which short-term investments you want to make. An overview of all available short-term investments is on the "Investments" overview card.
Scenario 5: Sundaes
Your new freezer chest has finally arrived. From now on you can offer extravagant ice cream sundaes on a newly created ice cream menu. It is high time, too, because in the coming days the sun is going to shine continuously.
Setup
Check your investments to see which setup steps you may ignore or modify.
-
Prepare the game board. (New.) Assemble the game board: top row B1, B2, B3, B4; bottom row D5, B6, A7, B8. The freezer chest will stand next to D5.
-
Preparations for 2 and 3 players.
Stock the storerooms as follows ("each" means the stated number of each ingredient):
B3: cheese, salad, cream, fruit B3: meat, vegetables D5: bread, pasta 2 players 2 each 4 each 2 each 3 players 3 each 5 each 3 each 4 players
Note: The printed rulebook text for step 10 names the award "Kinderfreundlich" (Family-Friendly) as an expansion award; its printed effect is on the award card and is not reproduced here.
New Rules
New element: Freezer chest. From now on your restaurant owns a freezer chest, in which you store ice cream. Always keep the lid of the chest closed when you are not taking ice cream scoops out of it or putting them in.
New action: Buy ice cream. Place your hourglass on the van ("Kleintransporter") and pay 1 coin. Then take 3 ice cream scoops in any combination from the general supply and place them in your freezer chest.
From now on use the shopping overview cards with a B in the lower left corner.
New element: Sundaes. When you take the order of a guest on which 1 sundae token lies, take 1 sundae plate in addition to the normal plate, and immediately place both in the top row of your player board. Until the end of the shift you must fetch the desired ice cream from the freezer chest and place it on the sundae (see the action "Get ice cream from the freezer chest"). Sundaes never need to be cooked or chilled.
New action: Add an ice cream request. From now on you can sell sundaes to your guests. Place your hourglass on 1 action space in the dining room. Then reveal 2 sundae tokens and place them on 2 guest cards in the dining room. Also take 1 coin immediately and place it on the money box.
You may perform this action only if you can place exactly 2 sundae tokens on guest cards. Sundae tokens may be placed on all guests whose order contains no ice cream (no printed ice cream scoops). You may never add an ice cream request to a VIP guest. You may add at most 1 ice cream request to each guest.
New action: Get ice cream from the freezer chest. Place your hourglass on 1 action space next to the freezer chest. Then take all the ice cream scoops from the freezer chest that you need for all your sundaes. Place the ice cream scoops immediately on the sundae plates on your player board.
Sundaes at the end of a shift. At the end of the shift you receive the number of coins shown on the guest card together with the sundae token, if you have prepared both the dish and the sundae correctly. In addition, you may receive reputation.
If at the end of the shift you find that you made a mistake, the previous rules apply. You must prepare the sundae again in every case. (You leave the dish on your player board, provided you prepared it correctly.)
Scenario Goal
Serve the following number of sundaes by the end of the 4th shift.
| Players | Goal (Normal) | Goal (Challenge) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 players | 8 sundaes | 10 sundaes |
| 3 players | 12 sundaes | 15 sundaes |
| 4 players | 16 sundaes | 20 sundaes |
If you do not reach the required goal, you must repeat the scenario. Start again with the investments you have already made and the coins carried over from scenario 4. Both figures can be found on your record sheet. After completing the scenario you may invest in your restaurant again. Transfer the reputation you earned to your record sheet.
Scenario 6: Competition Preparations
You have registered for an international competition, and your desserts are its focus. As preparation you hold a small challenge today: who among you can serve more guests? But it is not only about quantity; quality counts too. Prove that you master every area of the kitchen.
Setup
Check your investments to see which setup steps you may ignore or modify.
-
Prepare the game board. Assemble the game board: top row B1, B2, B3, B4; bottom row D5, B6, A7, B8.
-
Preparations for 2 and 3 players. As in scenario 2.
-
Run-down restaurant. As in scenario 5.
-
Prepare the storerooms. Stock the storerooms as in scenario 5 (storerooms B3 and D5). Place the remaining ingredients within easy reach as a general supply next to the game board.
B3: cheese, salad, cream, fruit B3: meat, vegetables D5: bread, pasta 2 players 2 each 4 each 2 each 3 players 3 each 5 each 3 each 4 players 4 each 6 each 4 each
New Rules
New element: Dishes with ice cream. On some of the new guest cards, ice cream scoops are shown in addition to ingredients and spices. In this case you must first prepare the dish as usual and without the ice cream scoops, and chill it if the guest card indicates that. Only after that may you place ice cream from the freezer chest on the plate of the respective dish.
If at the end of a shift at least 1 ice cream scoop lies on a plate, and you find that you have not prepared the dish as desired, you must start the dish from the beginning in the next shift. Return all ingredients, spices and ice cream scoops to the general supply, and place the dirty plate by the sink. (The ice cream melts and the dish becomes inedible.)
Scenario Goal
By the end of the 4th shift, each player must have served the following guests:
| Players | Goal (Normal) | Goal (Challenge) |
|---|---|---|
| Guests who bring no reputation | 3 | 3 |
| Guests who bring 1 reputation | 1 | 2 |
| Guests who bring 2 reputation | 1 | 2 |
| Sundaes served | 2 | 3 |
In addition, each player must have served the number of sundaes shown in the last row.
If you do not reach the required goals, you must repeat the scenario. Start again with the investments you have already made and the coins carried over from scenario 5. Both figures can be found on your record sheet. After completing the scenario you may invest in your restaurant again. Transfer the reputation you earned to your record sheet.
Scenario 7: The Competition
The big day has come. Today several critics rate your restaurant for the competition. They demand unique and demanding dishes. If you satisfy them, they raise your reputation enormously. If they are dissatisfied, that affects your reputation negatively. Show one last time that you have the best restaurant in town.
Stock the storerooms as in scenario 6.
-
Prepare the spice bag. Fill the spice bag with 1 of each spice type for 2 players, 2 of each for 3 players, or 3 of each for 4 players. Place the remaining spices within easy reach as a general supply.
-
Stock the cupboards with clean plates. As in scenario 5.
-
Prepare dirty plates. Place 1 dirty plate of each size by the sink for 2, 3 or 4 players. Set aside the remaining plates.
-
Starting money. Check your record sheet for how many coins you carried over from the last scenario. Place that many coins on the money box. Place the remaining coins within easy reach as a general supply.
-
Prepare the patrons. Shuffle all base-game patrons and draw 36 of them. Shuffle these 36 patrons together with all sweet tooth patrons (18 cards) and all ice cream lover patrons (12 cards) to form the face-down patron deck (66 cards). Take the top 20, 30 or 40 cards from this deck (for 2, 3 or 4 players), shuffle 3, 4 or 5 random critics into them, and place these cards back on top of the patron deck. Turn over 2 cards and place them on 2 free seats in the dining room. Immediately take 2 extra coins and place them on the money box. Set aside all other patrons.
New Rules
New element: Critics. Critics are the most demanding guests who enter your restaurant. The rules for VIP guests apply to them, with the following changes:
- Critics increase your reputation by 3 when you serve them successfully.
- Critics reduce your reputation by 3 if you have taken their order but not fulfilled it by the end of the shift.
- If you throw a critic out of the restaurant, you lose 3 reputation immediately.
- If at the end of a shift a critic's card is in the dining room, you lose 1 reputation immediately.
- You may not add an ice cream request to critics.
Reminder: Remember that you may not add ice cream requests to VIP guests, and therefore not to critics either.
Scenario Goal
By the end of the 4th shift, you must have served the following:
| Players | Goal (Normal) | Goal (Challenge) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 players | 2 critics, 6 sundaes, 14 reputation | 3 critics, 8 sundaes, 18 reputation |
| 3 players | 3 critics, 9 sundaes, 21 reputation | 4 critics, 12 sundaes, 27 reputation |
| 4 players | 4 critics, 12 sundaes, 28 reputation | 5 critics, 16 sundaes, 36 reputation |
If you do not reach the required goal, you must repeat the scenario. Start again with the investments you have already made and the coins carried over from scenario 6. Both figures can be found on your record sheet.
Final Scoring
Fantastic! You have successfully passed the last scenario and have been acclaimed. You now officially run the best restaurant in town, if not the best in the country.
Add up your entire reputation collected over the course of the story, and multiply it by 2 (2 players) or by 1.5 (3 players; round as needed). Then convert each of your remaining coins into 1 reputation and add it. If you have played the game in Star Kitchen mode, add 30 reputation.
Note: The printed rulebook gives no multiplier for 4 players.
| Reputation | Title |
|---|---|
| 240 or more | Best restaurant in the world |
| 200–239 | Best restaurant in the country |
| 160–199 | 3-star restaurant |
| 130–159 | 2-star restaurant |
| 100–129 | 1-star restaurant |
| 99 or less | Newcomer of the year |
Is your restaurant the best in the world?
Star Kitchen Mode
Have you completed all scenarios of this expansion, and were the goals of the challenge mode no problem for you? Then the "Star Kitchen" mode offers an additional challenge and a chance to play the story once more. Start again at scenario 1, but observe the following additional rules.
In the setup of every scenario you must pay coins to fill storerooms B3 and A7 with ingredients. The same applies to the spice bag and (in the later scenarios) to the freezer chest. The storeroom in which you store bread and pasta costs nothing.
- 2 players: 2 coins per storeroom, per spice bag and per freezer chest
- 3 players: 3 coins per storeroom, per spice bag and per freezer chest
- 4 players: 4 coins per storeroom, per spice bag and per freezer chest
Note: In the first scenario you start with empty storerooms anyway. For the spices you do not have to pay anything in this case.
You must reach the challenge-mode goal in every scenario in order to play the next scenario. If you do not reach this goal, you repeat the last scenario you played.
Combining the Expansion with the Base Game
If you want to combine the new elements of the expansion with those of the base game, but do not want to play the new story, use the following setup along with all the game elements and actions from both rulebooks.
Setup
-
Prepare the game board. Assemble the game board: top row B1, B2, B3, B4; bottom row D5, B6, B7, B8.
-
Preparations for 2 and 3 players. Cover all action spaces marked with the two-player symbols with "Not available" markers, and place 1 "Reserved table" card on each of the two lowest places in the dining room (two players). For three players, cover all action spaces marked with the three-player symbol with "Not available" markers, and place 1 "Reserved table" card on the lowest place in the dining room.
-
Defective stove. Place 1 "Malfunction" marker on 1 action space at the stove.
-
Prepare the storerooms. Stock storerooms B3 and B7 as follows, and storeroom D5 as shown. Storerooms B3 and B7 together hold cheese, salad, cream, fruit, meat and vegetables; storeroom D5 holds bread and pasta.
B3 and B7: cheese, salad, cream, fruit B3 and B7: meat, vegetables D5: bread, pasta 2 players 2 each 4 each 2 each 3 players 3 each 5 each 3 each
