Setup
You will need several tokens to use as "growth tokens." Place 3 such tokens on this sheet for each player (so for a four-player game, this comes to 12 growth tokens…).
His Highness Has Several Plans
At the start of each year, to determine what the capital wants this year, roll 2 dice (after rolling, place the dice on this sheet). Each die represents a separate need from the list below.
- Gold! The capital expects 1 gold from each player.
- Wood! The capital expects 1 wood from each player.
- Stone! The capital expects 1 stone from each player.
- Recruits! The capital expects 1 soldier from each player.
- Luxuries! The capital expects 1 "+2" token from each player.
- Workers! The capital expects 1 die from each player during Autumn (simply roll 1 colored die fewer during the Third Harvest).
Summer Gifts
At the start of Phase 5 of each year, each player (in turn order) may send to the capital one of the gifts, both, or neither (it is his right).
- If a player sent both gifts required by the capital, the Sovereign remains pleased and grants the player 2 VP. Place 1 more growth token on this sheet.
- If a player sent only one of the gifts, the Sovereign cannot be appeased, and nothing happens.
- If a player sent nothing, the Sovereign flies into a rage, and the player loses 1 VP. Remove 1 growth token from this sheet.
Winter Reinforcements
Divide the number of tokens lying on this sheet by the number of players (round the result down). If, when rolling the die that determines how many royal soldiers the Sovereign sends to help, the result is higher than this number, the result of the roll is treated as zero (and the Sovereign sends no soldiers).
