Components
- 16 Treasure Tokens
Each token has a Chest side and a Gem side. There are 5 types of gems, with 3 identical tokens of each type. The 16th token is a Joker.
Additional Setup
(After setting up the Kingdomino base game)
Place the 16 Treasure tokens Chest-side up next to the game box. Then randomly flip 2 of them to their Gem side.
Expansion Rule
If, on their turn, a player creates a square of four adjacent different landscapes when placing their domino, that player discovers a treasure!
To do so, they choose one of the two visible Gem tokens and place it at the intersection of their four landscapes, orienting it in the direction of their choice. They must then reveal a new Treasure token to its Gem side so that there are always two Gem tokens visible.
Each Gem token contains crowns, with a specific distribution depending on the gem color. Choose the orientation of the Gem token carefully when placing it in your kingdom, as these crowns are added to those already present on your dominoes during end-game scoring.
Note on the example: the printed illustration for this rule shows a Gem token placed at the intersection of four landscapes. The crown counts for each gem color are shown as icons on the Gem tokens themselves and are not written out in the printed text.
Once placed, a Gem token cannot be moved or rotated.
Important!
A territory pointed at by a skull will not score any points at the end of the game. It will have a value of 0, regardless of how many crowns it contains.
End of the Game
The game ends as usual once players have placed their last domino. Score points as in the base game, taking into consideration the additional crowns granted by Gem tokens. The player with the highest total score wins.
Immediate Victory
If a player manages to obtain 5 different gem types in their kingdom, they immediately win the game, without calculating points.
The Joker token counts as a gem of any type and makes it easier to achieve immediate victory. However, it only provides one crown.
