Yes, in the usual reading: Cumbersome's extra cost doesn't apply when the weapon is activated indirectly by effects like Pounce or Blood Paint (the Bone Club card text says so). Such effects override only the cost, not other prerequisites, so a sentient weapon still needs insanity. One poster disputed this for Pounce.
