Wickedness Gauge
You'll find the Wickedness Gauge on this additional board.
Wickedness Tiles
Wickedness tiles are double-sided. Each side shows a number (bottom-right), a name, and an effect. Players keep all of the Wickedness tiles they acquire face up in front of them until the end of the game.
Monster Counters
There are 15 Monster counters. Each of these counters represents one of the Monsters in the King of Tokyo base game and expansions. They keep track of your Wickedness points on the Gauge found on the board.
Setup
- After setting up the King of Tokyo base game, place the Wickedness board next to the Tokyo board.
- Then place the Monster counters for the Monsters in play at the bottom of the Wickedness Gauge.
- Stack the Wickedness tiles next to the corresponding circles of the Wickedness Gauge, so that there are 4 tiles next to the level 3 circle, 4 tiles next to the level 6 circle and 2 tiles next to the level 10 circle.
NOTE: The tiles are double-sided. For your first game, use the orange side. For future games, you can choose to play with all the tiles on the orange side, all on the green side, or a mixture of the two.
How to Play
In addition to Victory Points (star), 1s and 2s grant you Wickedness Points as follows:
- For each three-of-a-kind of 1s you roll, gain 2 Wickedness Points.
- For each three-of-a-kind of 2s you roll, gain 1 Wickedness Point.
Track any points gained by moving your Monster counter up on the Wickedness Gauge.
NOTE: Three-of-a-kind of 3s do not grant any Wickedness Points.
If your counter moves onto or beyond the level 3, level 6 or level 10 space, you may take a tile of your choice from the tiles available at that Wickedness level.
NOTE: Do not flip over the tiles. You cannot choose to take the power on the opposite side.
Place the tile in front of you. Its power is now active. Your counter remains on its space on the Gauge.
You can have, at most, one tile from level 3, one from level 6, and one from level 10.
Example
Gigazaur rolls four 1s: three black dice showing 1 and one green die showing 1.
- The three-of-a-kind of 1s gives 1 Victory Point (star) and 2 Wickedness Points.
- The single green 1 gives 1 Victory Point (star).
- Total: 2 Victory Points (star) + 2 Wickedness Points.
Wickedness Tiles
The rulebook shows the following tiles. Effects are given as printed; where the printed text is covered or not legible, that is marked.
- Tireless (level 3): At the start of your turn, gain 1 Energy.
- Sonic Boomer: At the start of your turn, [remainder of effect not legible in the rulebook artwork; partly covered by another card].
- Skybeam (level 10): Gain 1 extra Energy for each [Energy die face] and 1 extra Heart for each [Heart die face] you roll.
- Evil Lair (level 6): Buying Power cards costs you 1 less Energy.
- Barbs (level 3): [effect not legible in the rulebook artwork; covered by other cards].
- Defender of Tokyo (level 6): When you move into Tokyo or begin your turn in Tokyo, all other Monsters lose 1 [icon not legible].
- Starburst (level 10): +12 Victory Points (star); then discard this tile.
- Fluxling (level 6): see Clarifications on Wickedness Tiles below.
- Poison Spit (level 3): see Clarifications on Wickedness Tiles below.
Clarifications on Wickedness Tiles
Fluxling
When you gain this, place it in front of a KEEP card belonging to any player. This tile counts as a copy of that KEEP card. You can change which KEEP card you are copying at the start of your turn.
Fluxling takes on the characteristics of the copied card, as if it had just been played (with tokens, for example). If the copied Power card is discarded, for whatever reason, Fluxling no longer has an effect. You can choose another card to copy at the beginning of your next turn (before your first Roll).
Poison Spit
When you gain this, give 1 Poison token to each Monster you Smash with your claw. At the end of their turn, Monsters lose 1 Heart for each Poison token they have on them. A Poison token can be discarded by using a claw instead of gaining 1 Heart.
Poison tokens stay in play and continue to be active even if the associated tile is removed from the game. You cannot discard these tokens while in Tokyo, since you cannot use your Heart.
NOTE: If an effect makes you discard all of your Power cards, also discard your Wickedness tiles.
