Goal of the game

Each cockroach player tries to reach the four delicacies of his menu one after the other and disappear back into the safe hole as quickly as possible.

Preparation

Set up the cutlery on the board so every other is pointing north/south and the ones in between point east/west. Put the cockroach in the stand and place it on the black hole.

Take one player card (menu) per player and mix them hidden. Important: Keep the menu with the green marking in the deck.

Draw a menu each, put it in front of you. Put the cockroach marker on the menu starting arrow.

Basic Rules

In the game, you switch your roles between cockroach and chef. Whoever drew the menu with the green marking, starts as a cockroach and takes the orange cutlery dice.

The cockroach player may roll dice and move twice before the chef enters the kitchen. Look at your menu where you need to go first. With the green menu, it's the chocolate. Throw the cutlery dice.

If you roll cutlery you must [turn] a matching cutlery on the board a quarter of a turn and move the cockroach up to three squares.

If you roll the question mark you turn any cutlery on the board a quarter turn and move the cockroach up to two squares.

Important: You can combine the actions (turning and moving) in any order and also omit parts of them. The cockroach is allowed to change directions in a move. When turning the cutlery, the cockroach is not to not be moved with it. The shelves are obstacles that cannot be passed.

Note: the source sentence "the cockroach is not to not be moved with it" is garbled by translation. The intended meaning appears to be that the cockroach is not moved when the cutlery is turned, as the same sentence says "the cockroach is not to be moved with it." Transcribed as printed.

Example: You rolled the knife and three moving points. To get to the chocolate, run a square to the right (A), then rotate the knife a quarter of a turn (B) and move another square (C). You're now at the chocolate and your third movement point is omitted.

Once you have reached the target treat on the game board, place your cockroach marker on the corresponding image on your menu. Excessive points of movement are forfeited. The next delicacy on the menu is your next destination. If you have another dice roll left, you must roll immediately to try to get there.

As soon as you have rolled the dice and moved the cockroach twice, the player to your left plays the role of the chef. He throws the cooking die. If a blank side appears, the cockroach player gets an extra dice roll. The cockroach players turn ends at the latest after an extra throw. The chef becomes the cockroach player and the player to his left is the chef. The cockroach starts from the square where it stopped last.

Note: the source prints "extra dice roall" here; corrected to "extra dice roll".

End of the game

The player who first reaches all four delicacies of his menu and then reached the hole again, wins the game.

Advanced rules

The preparation, starting rules and end of game rules apply as in the basic game, with the following changes:

The chef gives the command: "In the kitchen – get set - go!" and immediately cockroach players and chefs start rolling their dice at the same time.

As a cockroach player, you loudly say which delicacy is next on your menu. You roll the dice, you move and you announce as soon as you reach them. Lay your cockroach marker on the delicacy on your menu. Roll over and over again to reach your next target treat, you are allowed to do so until the chef calls "stop".

Meanwhile, as a chef, you try to roll the chef symbol five times as fast as you can. If a blank side appears, you roll the dice again, whenever a chef comes up, count loudly and call "Stop!" after the fifth [chef] is rolled.

Note: the source prints "Stoppl" here; corrected to "Stop!". The bracketed "chef" supplies a word missing from the printed sentence.

The cockroach player's turn ends immediately. Swap roles.

Option: Experienced players could agree that the chef only has to appear three times.
