Components
- 52 pieces: 13 in each colour - red, blue, green, yellow (11 pieces, 1 square extra piece, 1 dot piece).
- 40 game boards (10 in each colour).
- 27 task cards (9 each with 3, 4 and 5 pieces).
- 1 scoring board.
- 1 sand timer.
Object of the Game
Each player tries to correctly place on their game board the pieces specified by the task card. They must be placed so that as many spaces with score numbers as possible remain uncovered. Pieces must not extend beyond the edges of the game board. The winner is the one who does this faster and better than everyone else.
Setup
- Each player takes the game boards and pieces of their colour. The game boards are placed face down in front of the player. The player sets the extra piece aside; it will be needed later.
- Place the scoring board in the centre of the table and put the dot piece at the "0" marker. Put the sand timer next to the board.
- Sort the task cards by the number on their backs, then shuffle these three decks. Place them next to the scoring board.
Rules of Play
The game lasts 10 rounds. All players play each round at the same time. In each round, one of the 10 game boards is played. A round is played in the following order:
Take a Game Board and a Task Card
The youngest player is the first to choose a game board. In subsequent rounds, the board is chosen by the player who is last on the scoring board.
After the game board is chosen, the other players take the board of their own colour with the same pattern on the back. The player whose turn it is draws a task card from the deck with the same number as on his or her game board. The task card is turned face up and shown to all players.
Then the player says "Go!" and everyone simultaneously turns over their game boards. The round begins.
Assemble the Pieces
Everyone plays at the same time. Each player tries to place on their game board all of the pieces shown on the task card. They must not extend beyond the playing area. While doing so, the player should try to leave the spaces with numbers uncovered, since only uncovered points count.
The player who does this first calls out the sum of his or her points aloud and turns over the sand timer. Now the other players assemble against the clock. Before the time runs out they must complete the task and likewise call out their points aloud. The first player must already place his or her marker piece on the space of the scoring board corresponding to his or her points. After that, players cannot place their markers on an occupied space. To avoid this, they may call out any number of points that is lower than what they actually scored and lower than the first player's. If they call out the same number that has already been called by any player before them, their points are not counted. The player who finished first watches the sand timer and the observance of the scoring rules. If you did not manage to call out your points before the time runs out, they are not counted.
Scoring
All players who managed to complete the task and call out their points place their dot piece on the corresponding space of the scoring board. The fastest player of the round must always be first!
Extra Piece
All players who, at the end of a round, are more than 10 points behind the leader may, in the next round, use the square extra piece in place of any one piece from the task card. Since the extra piece is smaller and more compact, it helps those who are behind to catch up.
End of the Game
The game ends after 10 rounds. The player who has scored the most points wins. If a player reaches the end of the scoring track (90) before the 10 rounds have been played, he or she begins a second lap and new points are added. Note: after a couple of rounds, playing will become considerably easier, so you can always pull ahead!
Solo Game
You can also play alone, trying to set score records. For objectivity, the following variation is suggested: take 1 set of pieces, excluding the extra piece, 1 game board each with the numbers 3, 4 and 5, and 1 task card each with the numbers 3, 4 and 5. Use a timer or time yourself on a clock. You must solve all 3 tasks, one after another, within 3 minutes. Add up the points scored.
- 0-10 points - so-so
- 11-20 - better
- 21-30 - excellent
- More than 30 - master!
