Variations On Other Games: Scrabble Challenge / Scrabble Co-Op

This month we're taking on Scrabble. How do you change it up? Well you ditch the board and add these little board pieces. Cut them each into 3 pieces and you're ready to go.

Challenge Mode

Players will take turns creating words on top of the board pieces played by the player before them. Then they will place a board piece of their choice off any word in play. The board piece can be vertical or horizontal and it can only be touching one letter. The next player must play a word on top of the board piece, covering at least one space, then return the board piece to the pile. If a player cannot play on the board piece, the previous player loses one point for each space on the board piece that was played. Scoring is the otherwise the same as normal scrabble and if a special space is used, the player will receive the modifier.

Co-Op Mode

This is played the same as above, but players are cooperating for a high score. Players will choose a board piece for the next player, and if a word cannot be played, the board piece is removed from play. After each piece is used, it goes to a discard pile. The discard pile cannot be used again until there are no more pieces available. Play until all board pieces are removed.

Bonus Scrabble Rule / Infinite Blanks

Play the above or regular Scrabble with the following rule. You can always play a blank tile in your current word. Flip any tile upside down and play a word. The tile will remain upside down and cannot be looked at by any other player. It scores 0 points. When a player uses that letter in another word, they don't have to use the same letter. They must declare the letter and it must be valid for both words.
