Components

  • 1 game board (a long track of seven lines, from the forest at the bottom to the mountain of Blocksberg at the top)
  • 5 witch tokens in different colours (orange, red, green, yellow and blue)
  • 5 witch hats
  • 1 colour die (the die shows colour faces and arrow faces)

Setup

  1. Cover each witch token with a witch hat.
  2. Shuffle all the hats so that no one can tell which colour witch is under which hat.
  3. Place the hats with their tokens in a row on the start line of the board (line 1).

Goal of the Game

The winner is the player who first brings one of the little witches to the last line of the board, Blocksberg (line 7).

Rules of Play

The youngest player rolls the die.

If a colour shows on the die, the player lifts the hat over the witch whose colour, in their opinion, matches the colour rolled.

  • Correct guess: put the hat back over the witch and move her one line forward towards Blocksberg. Then roll the die again. If a colour comes up again, try once more to work out under which hat the witch of that colour is hiding and move her forward. Keep rolling the die until two arrows come up, or until you guess wrong.
  • Wrong guess: put the witch's hat back over her and leave her where she is. The turn passes to the player on your left.

If two arrows come up on the die, you may swap the places of two little witches without lifting their hats. Then the turn passes to the player on the left. In this way an element of surprise enters the game, because over time it becomes hard to keep track of which witches are under which hats.

Winning the Game

The game ends when one of the players first brings one of the little witches to Blocksberg. That player is the winner.
