Game Setup
Place the deck of word cards face down in the middle of the table.
Place the number tokens (9 black tokens) in a pile next to the word cards. Make sure the tokens are face down, so that only the cross symbol on the tokens is visible.
Each player receives 9 colored betting tokens of the same color, 1 sheet from the drawing pad and a pencil. You may also take a reference card so you know how to score at the end of the round.
Course of the Game
Choose one player as the moderator. Each round the moderator will choose a theme card and turn the hourglass. Guessing and scoring will also always begin with this player.
The game is played over 9 rounds.
TIP: Players should keep within the size of the drawing frame.
Drawing Phase
The moderator takes the first card from the deck on the table and reads all three words on the card aloud. Then places the card where all players will be able to read it.
All players then randomly take one of the black tokens, look at the number, and place the token in front of themselves face down, so that nobody can see which number they drew. The drawn number determines which of the three words the player will draw.
The moderator turns the hourglass, and all players, including the moderator, begin drawing the assigned word. Try to draw the most fitting picture possible, from which the other players will recognize which word it is. Players must not incorporate any letters or numbers into their drawings!
Players should draw as fast as they can - 30 seconds is not much time. When the time runs out, all players must stop drawing immediately.
Guessing Phase
Now take a good look at your fellow players' drawings. Using your colored tokens you will guess which word each of your fellow players drew.
Place colored tokens with numbers marking your guesses next to the individual drawings (place the colored tokens face down next to the black tokens of the given players, so that your guess cannot be seen). Assign each player at most one of your colored tokens.
Of course, no player can place a colored token by their own drawing.
Hints and bluffing are not permitted in this phase of the game. People who feel the need to tell everyone how cleverly they figured it out may find that not talking during the guessing phase is as much of a challenge as the drawing itself. Don't worry, there will be time for conversation among the players after each round.
You may also decide not to guess a fellow player's drawing (not place any colored token by that drawing). This avoids the potential loss of points for a wrong guess.
Scoring
After all players have placed their colored tokens, you can begin scoring.
Starting with the moderator, each player in turn flips over their black token to reveal which word they drew. Then flip the colored tokens by their drawing face up, revealing the other players' guesses.
To avoid chaos, we recommend flipping your colored tokens one after another, and for each player immediately counting and writing down the points.
Players are awarded points according to the following rules:
Points for guessing players:
- +1: You guessed the drawing correctly.
- -1: You guessed the drawing incorrectly.
Points for the drawer:
- -2: None of the players guessed your drawing.
- +1: For each player who guessed your drawing.
Each player writes their earned points in the colored box next to their drawing. After all players have written down all plus and minus points, they add them up and write the result in the "total" field. You may end up with a negative number of points.
Tip: Make sure all players have written down their points before you hand out tokens and begin the next round.

End of the Game
The game ends after the 9th round. Each player adds up their total points from all rounds. The player with the most points wins!
