Components

  • 8 cats, 8 rabbits, 8 roosters and 8 ducks (2 of each animal in each child's set)
  • 4 game boards (Spielpläne), one for each child
  • 1 colour die (Farbwürfel)

Idea of the Game

The animals have vanished from the meadow. Only their outlines remain. With a bit of colour-die luck, they will soon return.

Setup

  • Each child receives one game board and 8 animals (2 of each kind).
  • Each child places 2 of their animals on the starting field (Ausgangsfeld).

Play Sequence

  1. Roll the colour die once.
  2. Colour of an animal that is lying ready: if the rolled colour matches an animal lying on the starting field, place that animal on the correct spot on the game board. Then place a new animal from your set on the starting field.
  3. No matching colour: bad luck, nothing happens.
  4. White rolled: place both animals from the starting field on their correct spots on the game board.
  5. Black rolled: take one animal that is already lying on the game board off the board.
  6. Pass the die to the next child.

End of the Game

The first child to lure all of their animals onto the meadow (Spielwiese) wins.

Variant

The animals do not have to go to the starting field first. They can be placed directly from the table onto the game board whenever the die shows the matching colour.

Tips and Special Notes

  • This is the very first dice-and-matching game. It can also be played without the die, as a puzzle.
