S3.1 Setup and Scenario Data

  • See the Play Aids included with C3i #32: A modified Turn Record Track and a modified Reinforcement Schedule. (see C3i INSERT)
  • Game Length: 15 turns. Starts on Turn 1 and ends in the Victory Check Phase of Turn 15.
  • First Player: Starts with the Allied Air Landing Phase of Turn 1. There is no Weather Phase, Artillery Resupply Phase or Bridge Phase on Turn 1.
  • Setup: Use only the Northern map. Place units according to the Setup Card, but only those units starting on the Northern map (hex-row 44XX and above.) Shuffle the German Unknown unit markers and place one face down on each of the 10 hexes on the map containing yellow dots. The remaining Unknown unit markers are not used.

S3.2 Markers

  • Traffic Markers: The Traffic markers begin the game out of play. The German player receives two Traffic Markers on Turn 8.
  • Moved Markers: Place 1 Allied and 1 German Moved Marker in their holding boxes on the map. The other Moved Markers are unavailable at the start of the game. The Allied player gains a second Moved Marker on Turn 12.
  • Air Unit Markers: These are unavailable at the start of the game. The Allied player receives one air marker on each turn with clear or cloudy weather from Turn 9 onwards.
  • Airborne Replacement Markers: The 101st Airborne marker is not used. The other three markers start at 0.
  • Place the Turn marker on Turn 1 of the Turn Record Track, place the two Weather markers on Clear in the Weather Track and place all other markers aside.

S3.3 Scenario Victory Conditions

See Rule 26. The Allied player has an additional 4 VPs from cities captured on the southern map.

S3.4 Scenario Rules

  • From Turn 7 onwards, the Southern map-edge within 4 hexes of hex 4414 is treated as Allied Entry Area N, which also serves as the Allied Supply Source.
  • The Allied player must maintain a garrison at Grave against potential German attacks from the South. From turn 4 onwards, at least 3 steps of Allied units must be within 1 hex of Grave at the end of each Allied turn. From turn 9 onwards, this requirements increases to 6 steps until the end of the game. The German player receives 1 VP at the end of each Allied turn where the garrison requirement is not met.

S3.5 Reinforcements

Players receive the reinforcements listed on the Reinforcement Schedule on the Play Aid. The 30 Corps Bridging unit is scheduled to arrive on Turn 10. However, the Allied player may choose to have this unit arrive on Turn 7, 8 or 9 instead. If he does so, he must choose two units of Guards Armoured Division which are scheduled to arrive on the same turn as reinforcements. These units are delayed and arrive on Turn 10 instead.

For example, the Allied player decides to bring the 30 Corps Bridging Engineer unit on as a reinforcement on Turn 9, and delays the arrival of 1WG/32/Gds and 2WG/Gds until Turn 10.

Notes on the Allied schedule:

  • The 30 Corps Bridging unit is scheduled to arrive on Turn 10 (see S3.5), with the option to arrive on Turn 7, 8 or 9. The scan shows 30 Corps counters on Turns 7, 9 and 10, and the arrow note "May arrive on Turn 7, 8, or 9" runs alongside the Turn 7 to Turn 10 counters. The scan does not show unambiguously which of these counters is the Bridging unit, so the scenario text is followed for the Bridging unit's timing.
  • The Turn 9 "Weather permitting" box shows an air unit and is an arrival that depends on the weather.
  • The unnamed Turn 13 counter's name is not legible at the resolution of the scan. It is transcribed as "unnamed 11-N unit" rather than guessed.
