Hand

At setup, each player receives the following number of cards face down:

  • 2–4 players: 10 cards
  • 5–6 players: 7 cards

There is no hand size limit; a player may hold any number of cards.

Discard Pile

At setup, turn the top card of the draw pile face up to start the discard pile.

At the end of your turn, you must discard 1 card from your hand.

When discarding, place the card face up on the discard pile so that it half-covers the card on top of the pile.

Playing Cards

During your turn, you may lay down any number of melds and layoffs in front of you.

Melds

A meld may be laid down when:

  • No one has yet laid out that Mystery in front of themselves.
  • There are 3 or more cards of the same Mystery.

To lay a meld, place the cards with "Fact" face up so that the number of cards can be seen.

Layoffs

A layoff may be made when:

  • Someone (including yourself) has a meld of that Mystery on the table.
  • There is 1 or more card of that Mystery.

To lay off, place the cards face up so that the number of cards can be seen, and decide one card at a time whether each is "Fact" or "Fiction."

Each time you lay off a "Fiction," you may turn 1 card of that Mystery's meld into "Fiction."

※ A card that has become "Fiction" never returns to "Fact."

Scoring

Base Points

  • Each card you have laid out in front of you: +2 points per card.
  • Each card left in your hand: −2 points per card.

Bonus Points

For each Mystery on the table, compare the number of "Fact" cards and "Fiction" cards:

  • Fact > Fiction: discard all of the "Fiction" cards.
  • Fact < Fiction: discard all of the "Fact" cards.
  • Fact = Fiction: discard all of the "Fact" cards.

Each card you have left in front of you after this: +2 points per card.

Each player scores their base points and bonus points.

If anyone's score has reached 100 points or more:

  • Yes: the game ends, and the player with the most points wins. If tied, play one more game.
  • No: start the next game.

Turn Flow (Flowchart)

The flowchart on the sheet shows the order of a turn:

  1. Start of turn.
  2. Where do you draw from?
    • Discard pile: take the selected card and all cards on top of it. Go to step 3.
    • Top of the draw pile: go to step 3.
  3. Do you play cards?
    • Yes: play cards (cards taken from the discard pile must be played, and not added to your hand). Go to step 4.
    • No: draw 1 card from the top of the draw pile. Go to step 4.
  4. Discard 1 card from your hand.
    • If your hand is now empty: the game ends, and scoring is carried out.
    • If you still have cards in your hand: the turn passes to the player on your left.
