16 Destiny tokens presenting Arrow and/or Walls, 1 Rulebook
Setup
During setup, after step 9, Destiny tokens are placed face up on the table near the board. Following the turn order, each player takes 1 token, then in inverse turn order an additional token. Then in turn order each player places one of his 2 tokens on the yellow government area of the Development Matrix. The other token can be used during the game.
Rules
One time per Era, on their turn, before or after performing an action, a player can choose and take an additional Destiny token from those available in the reserve or from the Development Matrix, if the chosen token has already been surpassed by all players Matrix markers. If there aren't available Destiny tokens, this action is not available. After having done the action, the player must rotate his Leader card as a remainder. (Printed as "remainder"; presumably "reminder".) At any time, during his turn, before or after performing an action, a player can place any number of Destiny tokens on the Development Matrix.
Destiny tokens may not be placed:
- upon any other token.
- over or adjacent to player's Matrix markers.
- with the arrow pointing out of the Development Matrix
- on both the 16th level of the Development Matrix. (Printed as "on both the 16th level"; the wording is kept as printed.)
Effects
When a player's Matrix Marker moves on to a Destiny token, coming from the starting direction of an Arrow, is automatically moved one more space in the direction pointed by the arrow. Otherwise nothing happens.
Walls are placed aligned with the horizontal or vertical axis. If a player takes a step against a wall, then progress does not occur, but the Wall token is flipped and inactivated. In the following action the player can move over the flipped token normally. When the flipped token doesn't have any adjacent player Matrix Markers it is flipped again and re-activated. In that case the last player moving out of the token area chooses how to place it. If an arrow points towards a wall, the arrow does not have any effect.
