Components

6 Hero cards 6 Skill cards 21 Boss cards 78 Dungeon cards 23 Wolf cards 12 Enchantment cards 10 Reward cards 6 Cursed cards 8 Power tokens 12 Gear tokens 2 Boss track cards 7 Dividers Achievement sheet

Set-up Changes

After each player has chosen their hero (or heroes, in a 1 or 2 player game), look through the Dungeon cards and place any cards that are tied to unused heroes back in the box. You can easily identify these cards by the hero symbol in the top right corner.

This was an optional rule in the base game, but with the added heroes, it now becomes a regular rule.

The Technomage

Set-up

A player who chooses the Technomage also takes the 12 Gear tokens and places them nearby as the supply.

Gears

The Technomage can use certain cards, like the Technomage Skill, to gain and spend Gears. Gears are represented by Gear tokens.

When you gain a Gear, take a Gear token from the supply and place it on your Hero card.

To spend a Gear, take a Gear token from your Hero card and return it to the supply.

Gears are not limited in number. If you ever run out of Gear tokens, use something else to represent Gears.

The Ranger

Set-up

A player who chooses the Ranger also takes the Wolf cards and creates a starting Wolf deck. The starting Wolf deck contains the following wolf cards: 1 Alpha, 3 Bite and 3 Play. Shuffle these cards together to form the Wolf deck. Place the other Wolf cards nearby as the reserve.

Starting wolf cards have a blue background.

The Wolf

The Ranger player has two decks: their own Ranger deck, and a Wolf deck.

Certain cards, like the Ranger Skill, let the Wolf take a turn. Whenever the Wolf gets to take a turn, the Ranger player uses the Wolf deck and goes through the draw step and play step like a normal turn. The amount of cards drawn during the draw step is indicated on the Ranger card that initiated the Wolf turn.

During the draw step, you can discard your hand to draw a new hand, just like normal, and when the Wolf runs out of cards in their deck, they become exhausted.

The Wolf turn takes place during the Ranger's turn, so if the Wolf adds enough power to defeat an enemy, the Ranger gets the loot. The Wolf does not count as a player, so any cards that affect players do not affect the Wolf.

When the players leave a Dungeon, the Wolf discard pile is also shuffled back into the Wolf deck, just like normal.

The Wolf deck can be improved with the "Alpha" card, which lets you choose a Wolf card from the reserve and place it in the Wolf discard pile.

The Enchanter

Set-up

A player who chooses the Enchanter also takes the 12 Enchantment cards, shuffles them and places them nearby as the Enchantment deck.

Enchantments

Some cards, like the Enchanter Skill, let you draw cards from your Enchantment deck and Enchant a Dungeon.

To Enchant a Dungeon, simply place the Enchantment card next to the Dungeon. Each Dungeon can only have one Enchantment. You cannot Enchant the Boss deck.

The text on the Enchantment card specifies when and how it can be used. Some Enchantments affect every enemy in the Dungeon, while others are used once and then discarded.

If you ever need to draw a card from the Enchantment deck and there are no cards left, shuffle the Enchantment discard pile and create a new deck.

The Gravemaster

The Gravemaster has several cards, like the Gravemaster Skill, that can be used when that card is in your discard pile. You can place these cards at the top of your discard pile to help you remember them.

The Gravemaster Skill is discarded when used, and can be retrieved from the discard pile by discarding a Basic 0 card. This makes it possible to use it several times in one turn.

The Tactician

To use the Tactician Skill, you shuffle it back into your deck.

If you draw an extra card, it's possible to draw the Tactician Skill again, so you could use it several times in one turn.

Rewards

Some of the new Reward cards have three options instead of the normal two, and players can choose two of those options.

Spider Queen

The first edition of the base game included a misprinted Spider Queen card. The corrected Spider Queen card is included in this expansion.

Thousands of Goblins

Thousands of Goblins is a new Boss with 8 cards instead of 4. Use all 8 cards to form the Boss deck.

Bog Witch

The Bog Witch is a new Boss with a special twist: the Boss cards can be shuffled into the players' decks. When a player draws one of these Boss cards, look at the text on that Boss card to see what happens.

The Bog Witch also uses three "Swamp Leech" cards. These are level 0 Dungeon cards that won't appear in regular Dungeons.

Boss Track Cards

The two Boss track cards can be used instead of the normal Boss track for a more compact experience, or when you want to take the game with you in a smaller container.

Power Tokens

These power tokens can be used to keep track of temporary power changes. For instance, if a card says "The next enemy gets +2 power", you can use a +2 token to help you remember.

The tokens are double-sided, with positives on one side and negatives on the other.

Legendary Mode

Legendary mode is an alternative way to play.

Set-up Changes - Heroes

During set-up, each player chooses a number of heroes as shown below. Take the Hero and Skill cards for all your chosen heroes. Shuffle those Skill cards into your deck.

1-2 players: 3 heroes each 3-4 players: 2 heroes each

Take 4 random level 1 Dungeon cards from the reserve and, then choose which player(s) add these cards to their decks.

Set-up Changes - Boss

During set-up, choose two different Bosses and shuffle all their cards together to create one big Boss deck.

Set-up Changes - Dungeons

Create two Dungeons of level 2, 3, 4 and 5 like normal, but don't create any level 1 Dungeons. Instead, create two level 6 Dungeons:

Take three random level 4 Dungeon cards and three random level 5 Dungeon cards and shuffle them together to create a level 6 Dungeon, containing six cards.

Instead of a Reward, place a random Cursed card with each of the two level 6 Dungeons. These curses affect all the cards in that Dungeon.
