Unexpected Threats
This card features rules for Unexpected Threats, a new kind of Deck of Doom card (each marked with the A icon) that brings hard-hitting Enemies – even Bosses! – into play without warning.
Many Case File setup cards will call for a single A card. In this case, shuffle all of the cards with that icon, then add one at random (without looking at it) to the Deck of Doom.
If one of these cards is drawn during the game, refer to the rules on the back of this card.
Resolving Unexpected Threat Cards
Each Unexpected Threat lists an Enemy. When the card is drawn, put it and the relevant Enemy card into the in play area. If it is already in a minion slot, do not move it.
If an Unexpected Threat card brings a Boss into play, create its Behaviour Deck by shuffling together all of the Behaviour cards with icons matching those on its Enemy card. Put this deck in the in play area. In the Minion phase, the Boss acts as it would during the Confrontation – before any minions are activated, a Behaviour card is drawn and resolved. Track the Boss' health using damage markers.
Otherwise, follow the instructions on the Unexpected Threat card. When it is discarded, any cards that were put into the in play area because of it are discarded.
Unexpected Threat: What a Wicked Child!
Unexpected Threat (see the Unexpected Threats rules card)
Enemy: Krampus
Set up Krampus in the starting area, and put this card in play with a trigger marker on it. Give the matching reaction marker to the lead agent. They are the Wicked Child, and are being hunted by Krampus – when he is activated, he ignores all other agents. If Krampus moves out of an area containing any agents, they each discard one action cube to deal him one damage.
Note: the photograph is unclear at the word after "they" in this sentence. It is transcribed on its most likely reading ("they each discard"); check it against a physical card.
If the Wicked Child is knocked out by Krampus, his duty is done and he is removed from the board – discard this card.
If the Wicked Child is knocked out in any other way, Krampus runs wild – he no longer ignores the other agents, and his melee attack value is increased to 8.
Note: the photograph reads "increased to 8", which is the same as the Melee Attack value printed on the Krampus card. It is transcribed as printed.
If Krampus is defeated, discard this card.
Enemy: Krampus
Stats (printed on the Krampus card): Move 4, Resilience 3, Health 16, Range 0, Ranged Attack 0, Melee Attack 8.
Primal Fear: Harmless Man-Toys: Krampus cannot suffer more than 2 damage from a Shoot action that uses a pistol weapon.
Die Ruten: If Krampus' melee attack inflicts at least one damage, the target must discard an action cube (if possible). If it inflicts at least four damage, they are stunned instead.
