Do I see the replacement bonus marker before placing it, and is it placed face up?

Draw it face down as a reminder and do not look at it during your turn; at the end of your turn you look at it and place it face up on a legal route. Posters disagree on whether older rules let you look earlier, so play it this way unless your group agrees otherwise.
