Setup

You will need a pencil and 7 standard dice. Use the Dig track, the Time track, the Gold track, the Buildings table and the Points track on the sheet.

Turn Structure

Hall of the Dwarven King plays over 20 turns. Each turn:

  1. Rolling Phase
  2. Action Phase
  3. Cleanup Phase

Rolling Phase

Roll the dice. You may discard a die to reroll any of the rest. Repeat this as many times as you like.

After rolling, you may cross out one block of 5 Gold to set a die to the face of your choice.

Action Phase

Resolve dice in order from least to greatest:

1: Fighting Dwarves

For each pair of Fighting Dwarves, gain 3 points. For a single Fighting Dwarf, discard one of your other dice.

2: Drinking Dwarves

For each Drinking Dwarf, gain a point.

3: Cooking Dwarves

If you don't have a Cooking Dwarf, ignore any higher numbered dice. This turn ends.

4: Digging Dwarves

For each Digging Dwarf, go down one step on the Dig track. If you reach a Gem icon, roll 1D6 and gain that many points.

5: Building Dwarves

Select Buildings from the Building table. Their combined cost must be no more than the number of Building Dwarves. Add their icons to the Map. You may only build in rows you have reached in the Dig track. You cannot place matching icons adjacently.

6: Mining Dwarves

Place Mining Dwarves on Mine icons on the Map. Reroll each of these dice. If their result is greater than their Depth, gain the Gold amount shown. (Show 1 Gold on the Gold track by filling in 1 of the narrow bars.)

Cleanup Phase

After resolving all the dice, cross off one of the hourglasses on the Time track. If you have built a Throne Room, cross off a crown as well.

Take back the dice you discarded. Begin your next turn.

End of Game

At the end of the game, gain points for the Statues and Vaults you've built, as well as for each crown you've crossed off the Time track.

90 points is a good goal for your first time playing. After that, try to beat your high score.

Buildings

The Buildings table lists each building with its cost, icon and effect.
