The Objective

There are two ways to win. Be the first to complete one of them and you will be crowned Hamster King.

  1. Hoard 16 hamsters. Collect 16 total hamsters in your Horde, from any mix of clans.
  2. Rule one clan. Collect 9 hamsters from a single clan in your Horde.

Once a player has collected 16 total hamsters or 9 hamsters from the same clan, the game ends immediately and that player is crowned the winner.

Round Structure

On your turn, take the following steps in order.

Step 1: Draw two cards. Take two cards from the draw pile. If you draw a Chaos card, resolve it immediately. It does not count toward your two cards, so keep drawing until you have added two new cards to your hand.

Step 2: Play a Clan Hamster. Add a Clan Hamster from your hand into your Horde. Stack matching hamsters together so everyone can read your Horde at a glance.

Step 3: Play any additional card. Optionally play one more card: a Clan Hamster, an Attack Hamster, an Action card, or the Gyrating Hamster.

Step 4: Battle. Finish your turn with a Duel or a Clan Battle, one or the other, never both.

Battle Types

You may choose a Duel or a Clan Battle on your turn, one or the other, never both. Roll the dice; the highest roll wins. You may choose one battle type on each turn.

Duel

One vs. one. Any hamster versus any hamster. Both players roll, and the highest roll takes the pot.

Clan Battle

Up to four vs. four. The challenger chooses up to four hamsters to battle from both their own Horde and the opponent's Horde. Every hamster in a Clan Battle must be from the same clan.

Tie-breaker: If the highest die is tied during a Clan Battle, each of the tied players re-rolls exactly ONE die for an epic re-match. Continue until there is a winner.

Cards

The game has 121 cards and 8 dice.

Clan Hamsters

The backbone of your Horde, split across the Red, Green, Orange, and Blue clans. Nine of one clan wins you the game outright.

Attack Hamsters

Specialists with a printed effect. Houdini steals a hamster from another player's Horde; Hercules hides and protects two of your own.

Action Cards

Tempo swings: draw from another player's hand and play it immediately, draw three and keep two, or stop a battle between any two players.

Chaos Cards

Played the instant they are drawn. The Hurricane shuffles every Horde and redistributes them equally; Battle Royale drags all players into one take-all brawl.

The Gyrating Hamster

The wild card. Play it as any Clan Hamster, or discard it to steal one hamster from every other player's Horde.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you allowed to clan battle and duel each turn? You can choose to clan battle OR duel on your turn. These are both types of battles and you may choose one on each turn.

We've tied during a clan battle with the highest die, now what? Each of you re-rolls only ONE die for an epic re-match. Continue until there is a winner.

When using the Harriet Hamster, can I move it to protect or hide different cards each turn? This Attack Hamster card only protects two cards and cannot be moved to protect different cards on subsequent turns. No one may battle the two cards protected or the Harriet card as they are in "hiding". These three cards are also safe from the Hurricane. If you choose to battle with one of the cards protected, it may not go back into protection.

The publisher notes that this applies to the Hussein card in the NSFW version. Substitute Gang Bang for Hurricane.

Is the Gyrating Hamster card protected in my hand against blind draws? No, this is one case where the Gyrating Hamster is NOT safe.

The Battle Royale card has been drawn and I do not have any Hamsters in my Horde to add to the battle. Do I still get a chance to roll? Each player may participate in the Battle Royale, even if you do not have a Hamster to put up for battle. This is a chance to get back in the game!

Does the Hurricane Chaos Card cause all Attack Hamsters' actions to be reset? No, the Attack Hamster cards are simply placed into your new Horde. The Attack Hamsters will count towards the final count of 16 Horde Hamsters as normal. The actions cannot be re-used.

When a Chaos card is drawn, does this count as one of the two cards drawn for your hand? No. After the Chaos ensues, continue drawing from the pile to ensure that you've added two new cards to your hand on your turn.

Does the game end immediately when the winning condition is met? Yes. Once a player has collected 16 total hamsters or 9 hamsters from the same clan, the game ends immediately and that player is crowned the winner.

When does a Gyrating Hamster get discarded to activate its effect: Step 2 or Step 3? If you are using the Gyrating Hamster to steal cards from other players' Hordes, you play this card on Step 3. If you are playing the Gyrating Hamster as a wild Clan Hamster, this card is played into your Horde on Step 2 or Step 3.
