Object of the Game

The player who has collected the most nuggets at the end of the game wins.

Setup

  • Place all nuggets in the middle of the table.
  • Place the dice next to the nuggets.

Sequence of Play

  • Determine a starting player. Play then proceeds clockwise.
  • The player whose turn it is rolls all seven dice.
  • After a roll, the player must set aside at least one die. This can be:
    • one or more dice showing a lasso, and
    • one or more dice showing a nugget, and
    • three or more dice showing the same number. If the player has already set aside dice showing a number, then in later rolls he may set aside any number of additional dice showing that number.
  • The player then decides whether to roll again or to take nuggets:
    • Roll again: The player rolls all dice that have not yet been set aside. After each roll, at least one more die must be set aside. Dice that have already been set aside may not be re-rolled. The player then decides again whether to roll again or to take the nuggets.
    • If, during a single turn, all seven dice have been set aside, the player first takes the number of nuggets corresponding to the value of the dice. He then immediately gets another turn: he takes all seven dice, rolls them, and so on.
    • Take nuggets: The player takes from the supply in the middle of the table as many nuggets as the value of his set-aside dice shows, and places them in front of himself.
  • The dice have the following values:
    • Each die showing a nugget has the value 1.
    • Three or more dice showing the number 2 have the value 2.
    • Three or more dice showing the number 3 have the value 3.
    • Three or more dice showing the number 4 have the value 4.
    • Three or more dice showing the number 5 have the value 5.

Examples

Player A, first example

  • 1st roll: The player sets aside one die showing a nugget and rolls again.
  • 2nd roll: The player sets aside three dice showing the number 3 and rolls again.
  • 3rd roll: The player sets aside the three remaining dice as well. He may now take 5 nuggets from the supply in the middle of the table: 1 each for the two nuggets, and 3 for the number 3 rolled.

Because the player was able to set aside all seven dice during his turn, he immediately takes another turn.

Player A, second example

  • 1st roll: The player sets aside one die showing a lasso and rolls again.
  • 2nd roll: The player sets aside three dice showing the number 4 and one die showing a lasso, and rolls on.
  • 3rd roll: The player sets aside the die showing a lasso and does not roll any further. He may now take 4 nuggets for the dice showing the number 4. Because he has also set aside three lassos, he may take these 4 nuggets from the supply in the middle of the table or from any opponent he chooses.

Player B

  • 1st roll: The player sets aside three dice showing the number 3 and three dice showing the number 5, and does not roll any further. He may now take 8 nuggets from the supply in the middle of the table. His turn is then over.

If the player had instead rolled six dice showing the number 3, he could take only 3 nuggets from the supply in the middle of the table. In that case it would be better to set aside only three dice showing the number 3 and roll the remaining dice again.

End of the Game

As soon as a player takes the last nugget from the supply in the middle of the table, the game ends. If there are not enough nuggets to take the full value of the dice, the player receives only the number of nuggets still available. The player who has collected the most nuggets wins. In the event of a tie, there are several winners.

  • Each die showing a lasso has the value 0. However, if the player has set aside three or more lassos in total, he may, if he wishes, take nuggets not from the middle of the table but from one opponent of his choice, from the nuggets that opponent has already collected. If there are not enough nuggets to take the full value of the dice, he may take only the number of nuggets that opponent has.
  • After the player has taken nuggets, the next player takes his turn.
  • If, after a roll, the player cannot set aside any die, he has had bad luck. His turn is over. He may not take any nuggets, and the next player takes his turn.
