Setup

  1. Deal 1 Cutlass card to each player.
  2. Shuffle the remaining cards into the center of the table to form the draw pile.

Turn Structure

On your turn, draw up to five cards from the draw pile. You choose when to stop drawing.

  • If you draw an Enemy card, you lose your entire draw and your turn is over.
  • Exception: Walk the Plank. As long as the Enemy card is not a Walk the Plank, you can still play a Cutlass card and continue your turn as if nothing happened.

Card Types

Enemy Cards

Enemy cards are drawn during your draw. Sample Enemy cards shown in the source:

  • Shark (value 2): "Use a cutlass to defeat!"
  • Walk the Plank!: "Lose your turn! Discard your Loot Zone."

Treasure Cards

Treasure cards are added to your stash and carry a point value shown by the red wax seal in the corner. Sample Treasure cards shown in the source:

  • Treasure Pile (value 4): "A valuable pile of treasures!"
  • Grog Barrel (value 4): "Take another full turn!"

Cutlass Cards

Each player starts with one Cutlass card. The source describes it as: "Use to slay enemies!" A Cutlass card is used to defeat an Enemy card such as a Shark, and can be played to continue your turn after an Enemy card other than Walk the Plank is drawn.

Action Cards

Along the way you will find Action cards. Use them to collect more treasure or to demolish your opponents. Sample Action cards shown in the source:

  • Bury: "Place two cards from your stash under this card, they cannot be removed."
  • Brig: "Play this card on another player, they lose their next turn unless they discard a key."
  • Parley: "Prevent an action card from affecting you."
  • Salvage: "Search the discard pile for any card and place it face down anywhere on the draw pile."
  • Cannonfire: "Choose a player, discard two random cards from their stash."

Winning the Game

  1. The game ends when there are no longer any cards in the draw pile.
  2. Players then add up the total value of all the cards in their stash.
  3. The player with the highest point value wins.

The infographic sheets do not list the full deck composition, the number of copies of each card, or the complete text of every card. These are not transcribed here and should be added from a full rulebook if one is published.
