Goal of the Game
Get more treasures than your opponent! To claim a treasure for yourself, you need to find more paths to it than your opponent. Act smart and watch your opponent closely to secure the most treasure chests.
Setup
Sit down on opposite sides of the table. Put all the tiles in the bag and shuffle them. Each player draws one tile and takes it into his hand.
Make sure to have enough space in the middle of the table to lay out a 6x6 pattern of tiles. The last player to eat Chili becomes the starting player and places the first tile on the table, disregarding the tile placement rules.
Course of Play
On your turn, you add the tile from your hand to the display of tiles in the middle of the table. You have to follow these three simple rules:
- Your tile must be placed adjacently to an already placed tile, i.e. it must share at least one edge with another tile.
- The display of tiles may not be greater than 6 rows and 6 columns.
- You may not start a new row of tiles on your opponent's side of the table.
After placing your tile, draw a new one from the bag. Then your opponent takes his turn.
End of the Game and Scoring
The game ends after all 36 tiles have been placed. By then, the display of tiles should be a square of 6 rows and 6 columns. Time to score points.
Each player counts the treasure chests which he has access to via paths from his side of the table. Each such chest is worth 1 point.
If both players have access to the same treasure chest, the player with more paths to that chest gets the point. In case of a tie, no one scores the point for that chest.
The player with the most points wins the game.
Scoring Example
Player A scores all the treasure chests in the green land area, as he has more paths to those chests than Player B. Likewise, Player B gets the points for the treasure chests in the blue water area. The red areas are uncontested – each player scores his such areas. The areas with black arrows pointing towards them do not have any treasure chests in them, so no points are awarded in these areas.
In the end, Player A wins 19 to 15.
