Scenario 2.5: Narrow Escape

  • Level: 2
  • Requirement: You may play this scenario after Scenario 2.
  • Monsters: Bandit Archer, Venomous Centipede
  • Special Rules: The barricade A has 12 hit points.
  • Goal: Defeat all monsters; or destroy the barricade and end your turn on A.

You emerge from the hole you've put in the wall to find a crowd has gathered to investigate. At the front is a very large (or very small, depending on perspective) imp carried on a button throne. "Capture the intruders!" King Button roars.

  • Play Scenario 5: Button's Arena

Map

The scenario map is printed on the promo sheet's second page. It is a tile of hexes with no legend. The numbered hexes 1, 2 and 3, the barricade hex labelled A at the top, and an exit-arrow icon (a door with an arrow) near the bottom are shown as printed. Two hexes carry a "?" marker with a fire icon. The sheet does not explain these markers, so they are not transcribed. Consult the sheet's map for their positions.

Item Cards

The sheet prints two item cards: Shrunken Short Sword at the top of the scenario card, printed upside down, and Piercing Sliver Arrow along the bottom edge. Their text is transcribed below.

Shrunken Short Sword

The default top action of your ability cards is attack 3 instead of attack 2.

Transcriber's note: the sheet prints this card upside down. The two sword-shaped glyphs are rendered here as "attack", the icon shape on the card. The sheet does not print the word "attack", so check the wording against the base rulebook's icon key.

Piercing Sliver Arrow

During your ranged attack, add Pierce 5.

Transcriber's note: the printed icon is a diamond-shaped symbol, rendered here as "Pierce" from the item name. Check it against the base rulebook's icon key.
