First Time Playing?
Go check out the Assembly Guide! It'll show you how to assemble the tiny Furniture and Fence you'll need to play. (Once you've put everything together, all the assembled pieces will fit in the box.)
To play this game you'll need a phone, watch, or anything else that has a timer with a loud noise or strong vibration.
Why Isn't There a Timer in the Box?
Chances are good that you already have something that keeps time, and by using what you have, the production of unnecessary plastics is reduced.
Setup
-
Split into teams of two. Sit next to your teammate. (Ex: if you're playing with 6 players, split into 3 teams of 2 players each.)
- 3 players? Everyone will be on their own team.
- 5 or 7 players? 1 player will be on their own team. (Ex: if you have 5 players, form 2 teams of 2 players each, and 1 team with 1 player.)
-
Place the game box in the middle of the table. This is called The Old House. Then, place all 10 assembled Furniture Pieces on The Old House.
-
Place the assembled Fence aside for now.
-
Place the 3 New Houses:
- Put New House 1 somewhere on the table.
- Put New House 2 somewhere not on the table.
- Put New House 3 somewhere farther from The Old House than New House 2.
The farther away you put New House 2 and 3, the harder the game will be!
NOTE: All players must agree on the placement of each New House.
-
Shuffle the 21 Job Cards and put them face down on the table. This is the Draw Pile.
-
The team with the tallest player goes first.
Starting Your Turn
On your team's turn, flip the top card in the Draw Pile face up.
How to Read the Card
- Furniture: The pieces of Furniture you'll need to move.
- Destination: Where you'll need to deliver the Furniture.
- Trips and Time: The suggested Number of Trips and Time Limit for the Job. This is the starting bid (for example, 2 Trips, 1 min 20 sec).
The Fence
Place The Fence around the Destination (New House 1, 2, or 3) shown on the card.
The Bid-Off
If it's your team's turn, make the first bid on the Job by saying the Number of Trips you'll need, and your Time Limit to complete those Trips. Your first bid can be as high or low as you'd like. The Starting Bid on the card is just a suggestion.
Once your team has bid, the team to your left must choose to either:
Make a New Bid
Make a New Bid if you think you can complete the Job under more difficult conditions.
When you Make a New Bid, your team must either:
- Lower the Number of Trips, OR
- Lower the Time Limit by at least 5 seconds.
Back Out
If you think the current bid is impossible, you can pass by saying, "We Back Out." Once your team Backs Out, you can't make any more bids on this Job.
This is your team's chance to plan how to tackle the Job, so make sure you and your teammate strategize before you Make a New Bid or Back Out.
Bidding continues clockwise around the table. Keep going until all teams except one have Backed Out. This remaining team is now the Winning Moving Company, and must attempt the Job using the Number of Trips and Time Limit in their bid.
Example
There are 3 teams, and it's your team's turn. This is the current Job (Starting Bid: 2 Trips, 1 min 20 sec). After strategizing with your teammate, you decide to make a Starting Bid with a lower Time Limit than what's suggested on the card: "We can do this Job in 2 Trips and only 1 minute."
The next team decides to lower the Number of Trips and Makes a New Bid: "We'll do it in 1 Trip and 50 Seconds!"
It's your team's turn again. You can Make a New Bid by making the Job even more difficult, OR call their bluff: "Fine, we're gonna Back Out. YOU do it!"
(Illustrated alternatives: "We can do it in 1 Trip and 1 minute." / "That's impossible! We Back Out.")
Moving the Furniture
Once the bidding ends, the Winning Moving Company starts the Job!
Have a player who isn't on the Winning Moving Company set a timer to the Time Limit from the Winning Moving Company's Bid. Then immediately start the timer.
The players on the Winning Moving Company team can only use one Pinky Finger each to balance, move, and stack the Furniture. You can switch hands at any time, but you must keep your other hand behind your back.
When you're ready, start moving the Furniture to the New House. You can move one piece at a time, stack Furniture up, move Furniture by yourself (remember: you can only use one Pinky), or carry Furniture together with your teammate. When you place Furniture on the New House, you've used up 1 Trip. The other team(s) are responsible for counting how many Trips you've made.
If any Furniture touches the table, floor, or any surface that is NOT within The Fence, immediately STOP. Return that piece of Furniture, and any pieces you're currently holding to The Old House. You can use all your fingers to return the Furniture, but the timer KEEPS RUNNING while you do.
This includes any Furniture you place within The Fence that later falls out. Furniture can hang off the edge of The Fence, but the moment a piece falls out it must immediately be returned to The Old House.
On a Team by Yourself?
You can use BOTH of your Pinkies. HOWEVER, you must always move 2 extra pieces of Furniture in addition to what's shown on the Job Card. You can pick any 2 extra pieces of Furniture you want.
Moving Tips
- You can only move the Furniture with one Pinky, but you can use that Pinky however you want: lift with the tip, nudge with your fingernail, get creative!
- Making a Trip by yourself is faster, but it's easier to balance with a buddy! Working together to lift a piece from either end is a good strategy!
- You can try to move as many pieces of Furniture as you want in a single Trip.
- You don't have to use all of the Trips you bid, but you fail the Job if you run out of Trips before you've moved all the Furniture for the Job.
Remember: If it feels like cheating, it's cheating!
Ending Your Turn
Success
If your team successfully delivers all of the Furniture for the Job without running out of Trips or Time, keep the current Job Card. This counts as 1 Point.
Failure
If the timer goes off or you run out of Trips your team fails. The TEAM TO YOUR RIGHT takes the current Job Card. This counts as 1 Point for them.
In either case, return all Furniture to The Old House, and flip over the next Job Card. The team who just earned the Point starts the bidding on the new Job Card.
Winning
The first team to collect 3 points wins the game! Congratulations! Your tiny clients will throw a microscopic parade in your honor.
