Using Giant Robot Hellboy
These rules are designed for solo play, with one player controlling Giant Robot Hellboy and no other Agents present. Whenever the rules refer to the number of Agents, Giant Robot Hellboy counts as three (for example, when setting the Requisition budget or preparing the Encounter deck for a Case).
Giant Robot Hellboy's "Agent Board" in made up of seven cards, which should be set up as shown on the back of this card. In all other respects, it acts like any other Agent; it gets three action cubes per round, and can make all normal actions.
It can take Requisition cards as normal, with the exception any cards that are Melee or Ranged Weapons.
Printed text is transcribed as it appears on the card, including "in made up" and "with the exception any". The layout diagram on the back of this card was not photographed, so the set-up arrangement of the Agent Board is not transcribed here; the seven cards are listed below.
Agent Board
The Agent Board consists of the five System cards (Defence, Attack, Control, Locomotive and Reactor) and the two Giant Robot Hellboy cards (Taking Damage, and Big, Tough and Made of Metal).
Defence System
System card 1.
Special System Actions
- Countermeasures (1 action cube): Move the Target Priority marker to the previous or next card in line, ignoring Damaged systems.
Special Rules
- Turn Aside: When testing DEFEND (shield icon), spend a [illegible] result to move the Target Priority marker to any system card before applying damage.
- Shielding: Reduce all damage suffered by this system by 1, to a minimum of 0.
Attack System
System card 2.
Special System Actions
- Gigantic Right Hook (2 action cubes): Make a Fight action. If the target is hit, it suffers 4 additional damage. The target is stunned and hurled.
- Tail Swipe (2 action cubes): Make a Fight action. Apply the result to each enemy in the target area.
Control System
System card 3.
Special System Actions
- Gout of Flame (1 action cube): Ranged weapon, causes fire damage. After resolving the action, roll a [illegible] die. Each other Enemy in the target's area suffers this much damage.
- Sensor Sweep (1 action cube): Test EXAMINE (eye icon). On 3+, discard all clues on the board and increase Information Gathered by 1 for each.
Locomotive System
System card 4.
Special System Actions
- Stomp (2 action cubes): Each Enemy in your area is stunned and hurled. Then place a Destruction counter in your area.
- Jet Boost (3 action cubes): Move Giant Robot Hellboy to any explored area on the board, ignoring all Enemies during the move. Hurl all Enemies in the area.
Reactor System
System card 5.
Special Rules
- Reactor at Full Capacity: In the Refresh step of each End phase, discard all power cubes from your system cards. Then distribute three power cubes between the system cards however you wish.
- Power Surge: Power cubes on this card can be spent to boost your tests like action cubes.
Taking Damage
Giant Robot Hellboy card (Agent Board), printed title "Giant Robot Hellboy".
When Giant Robot Hellboy takes any damage, it is applied to the system with the Target Priority marker. The marker then moves one card to the right (or back to Defence System, if it is on Reactor System). When you Take Time, move the Target Priority marker to a System card of your choice.
For each damage suffered by a System, you must either discard a power cube from its card or place a wound marker in one of its health boxes. If all of the boxes are already full, flip the System card over to its Damaged side (ignore any leftover damage).
Big, Tough and Made of Metal
Second Giant Robot Hellboy card (Agent Board). The top of this card shows four icons in a row (fist, orange crosshair, eye and shield) with no accompanying text; the card's printed text is below.
Giant Robot Hellboy cannot be Hurled or stunned, and completely ignores infernos and Destruction counters.
Shutdown
All five Systems are flipped to their Damaged side. Giant Robot Hellboy is knocked out.
Self-Repair
When you Take Time, flip each damaged System card face-up and place a wound marker in each of its health boxes.
