Objective

Have the most points when help arrives after five nights!

Components

64 Fear Cards, 6 Backpack Cards, 10 Critical Supply Cards, 88 Blood Spatter Points Tokens, 6 Escape Tokens, 67 Supply Tokens, 1 Cabin Board, 6 Player Tokens, 6 Player Boards, 1 Night Marker, 1 Camp Bag.

Fear Cards

Fear Cards are played on your turn (see Play a Fear Card). Some Fear Cards are Defense Fear Cards, which are played defensively during another player's turn (see Play a Fear Card).

Example card, "Let Me Choose": Draw seven Supply Tokens from the bag. You may replace one Supply on your Player Board (not a Jason Token) with one of the Supplies drawn this way. The other six tokens and the one from your Player Board are returned to the bag. Jason Tokens may not be replaced this way.

Critical Supply Cards

Each Critical Supply Card shows a set of Supplies and the number of points the first player to return to the Cabin with that set receives. The card text reads "First to return to the Cabin with this set gets:" followed by the point value.

Backpack Cards

Each player has one Backpack Card. Its turn-action side reads "Choose an action for your turn": Search for Supplies, Play a Fear Card, or Return to the Cabin. Its other side lists the Supplies in the campground. The back of the card reads: Save up to two Supplies in this backpack to be traded at the end of another day. The Supplies listed on the Backpack Card are Cast Iron Pan, Flashlight, Gasoline, Cleaver, Car Keys, Axe, and Jason.

Cabin Board

The Cabin Board shows:

  • Night track: Night 1 through Night 5, with the Night Marker on the current night. Each remaining night space holds one Jason Supply Token.
  • Critical Supply Objective: the space where the current Critical Supply Card is placed.
  • Return to the Cabin / Bravery Bonus track: the reward for each player's return order (see Bravery Bonus).
  • Two icon notes: Drawing two Jason Tokens causes a Second Jason Attack, forcing you to flee to the Cabin without any Bonuses. Return all Tokens from your board to the bag. and Choosing to Return to the Cabin without a Second Jason Attack results in gaining a Bravery Bonus.

Player Boards

Each player board has a Supply value side and a combination side. The Supply values are:

SupplyValue
Cast Iron Pan1
Flashlight2
Gasoline3
Cleaver4
Car Keys6
Axe8

Source note: the Supply value table is read from the icons on the player board art and matched to the Supply names printed on the Backpack Card; the rulebook text itself names the values for Cast Iron Pan (1), Gasoline (3) and Cleaver (4).

The combination side reads:

  • When dropping off 3 Supplies of the same type, double the value of one other type of Supply.
  • When dropping off 4 Supplies of the same type, double the value of two other types of Supply.
  • When dropping off a set of any 5 different types of Supply, receive an additional 8 Blood Spatter Points.
  • When dropping off a set of any 6 different types of Supply, receive an additional 12 Blood Spatter Points.
  • Drawing two Jason Tokens causes a Second Jason Attack, forcing you to flee the campground. Return all tokens on your Player Board to the bag. Do not collect a Bravery Bonus.
  • Choosing to return to the Cabin rather than fleeing the campgrounds results in gaining a Bravery Bonus.

Other Components

  • Blood Spatter Points Tokens (denominations 1, 5, 10 and 50) are the scoring currency.
  • Escape Tokens (6) are described under Escape Token.
  • Supply Tokens (67) are kept in the Camp Bag, and include the Jason Supply Tokens.
  • Player Tokens (6) mark each player's Return to the Cabin position.
  • Night Marker (1) tracks the current night.
  • Camp Bag (1) holds the Supply Tokens.

Two Ways to Play

First decide which way you would like to play, a basic game or a more advanced game. For a basic game (when playing with newer players, for example) simply remove the Defense Fear Cards from the game. For a more advanced game, shuffle the entire deck of Fear Cards (with the Defense Fear Cards) together. You're ready for setup!

Setup

  1. Place the Cabin Board in the center of the table with the Night Marker on the Night 1 space. Place one Jason Supply Token on each of the remaining Night spaces.
  2. Place the Blood Spatter Points Tokens and Escape Tokens near the Cabin Board.
  3. Put all the Supply Tokens (including remaining Jason Tokens) in the Camp Bag.
  4. Each player starts with one Backpack Card and one Player Board with its corresponding Player Token. Each Player Board should have the side with the Supply values facing up. Each Backpack Card should have the turn action and Supply quantity side facing up.
  5. Shuffle all the Fear Cards (for the basic game the Defense Fear Cards are removed and set aside). Deal five Fear Cards to each player.
  6. Place the remaining deck of Fear Cards to the left of the Cabin Board.
  7. Shuffle the Critical Supply cards and place one face up on the Cabin Board. Place the remaining deck to the right of the Cabin Board.

Playing the Game

A game consists of five nights of searching for Supplies (5 game rounds). Each night of searching for Supplies ends when the last player returns to the Cabin.

The player who most recently watched a horror movie goes first. If no one has watched one recently, then the player who runs the slowest goes first.

On Your Turn

Each turn a player may do one of three things:

Search for Supplies ◊ Play a Fear Card ◊ Return to the Cabin

Search for Supplies

When choosing to search for Supplies, simply reach into the Camp Bag, draw one token out, and place it on your Player Board.

The Camp is full of Supplies, but beware: Jason could be lurking anywhere. You can dodge him once per night, but if you come across him a second time, he will attack you — causing you to drop all the Supplies you've found that night — and immediately send you fleeing back to the Cabin with nothing!

Play a Fear Card

A player may choose to play a Fear Card for their turn. After a Fear Card is played and its effect resolved, the card is placed beside the Fear Card deck, face up, forming a discard deck. Each of the functions are spelled out specifically on the Fear Cards.

Some Fear Cards are used defensively when another player plays a specific Fear Card. Using these defensive Fear Cards can only be done out of turn, and does not count as an action. If, on your turn, a Fear Card you play is counteracted by one of these defensive cards, you do not get to take another action; playing your Fear Card was your action for the turn.

The Defense Fear Cards are played during another player's turn to block a Fear Card being played against you.

Return to the Cabin

When choosing to Return to the Cabin as your action for the turn, flip over your Player Board indicating you are going back to the Cabin for the night. If you are the first player to return with the Supplies shown on the Critical Supply Card, gain the points shown on the card. Place your Player Token in the appropriate space on the Cabin Board (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) and collect the Bravery Bonus indicated on that space.

Players forced to Return to the Cabin due to a Second Jason Attack place their Player Token on the Cabin Board with the darker side face up, and DO NOT collect the Bravery Bonus indicated on the space. (See Bravery Bonus.)

After Returning to the Cabin, a player is not allowed to search for any more Supplies or play Fear Cards (take any more turns) until the next night, and they may not be the target of Fear Cards that night.

Remember: Players can only do one of these actions per turn. For example, if you choose to Search for Supplies or play a Fear Card, you can not Return to the Cabin until your next turn. Also, only the first Player to Return to the Cabin with the requisite combination of Supplies from the Critical Supply Card earns the bonus points listed.

Encountering Jason

Jason Voorhees is the walking embodiment of murderous wrath. Running into him once in a night is a close call; coming across him twice in one night is truly terrifying, and will cause a player to panic, drop all of their collected Supplies, and flee back to the Cabin.

A Second Jason Attack occurs when a player has two Jason Tokens on their Player Board. When this happens, that player MUST Return to the Cabin for the rest of the night (round). All Supply Tokens on their Player Board are returned to the Camp Bag (including Jason Tokens). Supply Tokens that are safe in the player's Backpack or on a Hidden Stash Fear Card do not need to be returned to the bag. The player places their Player Token (dark side up) on the next available Return to the Cabin space, but they do not claim the Bravery Bonus.

Additionally: Players that are hit by a Second Jason Attack receive an Escape Token (see ESCAPE TOKEN).

Bravery Bonus

A Bravery Bonus is collected by a player that chooses to Return to the Cabin as their turn action. Their Player Token is placed on the next available space for Return to the Cabin (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) The Bravery Bonus to be collected is indicated on that space.

For example, if you are the third Player to Return to the Cabin, your Player Token is placed on the 3rd space and you collect 1 Blood Spatter Point and draw a Fear Card.

The Return to the Cabin spaces on the Cabin Board read, in order: 1st — +CARD; 2nd — +CARD; 3rd — 1 +CARD; 4th — 2 +CARD; 5th — 3 +CARD; 6th — 4 +CARD. The "+CARD" entries are drawn from the Fear Card deck.

Escape Token

If a player is hit by a Second Jason Attack, they receive an Escape Token. This token may be discarded to remove a Jason Token on their Player Board on another night. The Jason Token removed from their Player Board this way is returned to the Camp Bag.

An Escape Token may be discarded by its owner at any time and does not count as an action.

For example, if a player already has one Jason Token along with an Escape Token, and they pull a second Jason Token from the Camp Bag, they may immediately discard their Escape Token to return their first Jason Token to the Camp Bag, thereby avoiding a Second Jason Attack.

Players may keep only one Escape Token at a time. It must be used before a new one can be gained. Any Escape Tokens remaining at the end of the 5th night are traded in for 3 points.

End of the Night

The night of searching for Supplies continues with each Player taking turns performing the action of their choice. Players who Return to the Cabin as their turn action OR who are forced to return because of a Second Jason Attack may not search for Supplies or play Fear Cards again until the next night.

The others keep on searching for Supplies until there is only one player left who hasn't Returned to the Cabin.

The final player may continue searching until they choose to Return to the Cabin or they have two Jason Tokens. A Second Jason Attack results in losing both the Bravery Bonus AND everything on their Player Board. Choosing to Return to the Cabin results in collecting the final Bravery Bonus Blood Spatter Points and card. The last player to Return to the Cabin also takes the first turn on the next night.

Dropping Off Supplies

At the end of each night, Supplies are dropped off at the Cabin for points. Before dropping off their Supplies, each Player may flip their turn order card and save up to two Supply Tokens on their Backpack card. The rest of the Supplies are dropped off for the amounts of points indicated on the Player Boards.

Source note: the rulebook text reads "turn order card" here; the Backpack Card is the card that saves Supplies.

Certain combinations of Supplies are worth bonus Points and are described below:

Remember: Each player can only use ONE of these bonuses per night, and may choose to use the Backpack Card to save Supplies for a better bonus on another night.

Three of a kind. When dropping off 3 Supplies of the same type, a player may double the value of a second type of Supply they are dropping off that round.

For example, after dropping off 3 Cast Iron Pan Supply Tokens (1 point each), a player drops off 2 Cleaver Supply Tokens for 8 points each instead of 4 points each.

Four of a kind. When dropping off 4 Supplies of the same type, a player may double the value of 2 other types of Supplies they are dropping off that round.

For example, after dropping off 4 Gasoline Supply Tokens (3 points each), a player drops off 2 Cleaver Supply Tokens for 8 points each instead of 4 points each, AND 1 Cast Iron Pan Supply Token for 2 points instead of 1.

Five different types. When dropping off 5 Supplies that are each of a different type, a player receives an additional 8 points.

Six different types. When dropping off 6 Supplies that are each of a different type, a player receives an additional 12 points.

Once scored, all tokens on Player Boards are returned to the Camp Bag.

Beginning the Next Night

At the beginning of each night, three things happen…

  1. Each player receives one Fear Card.
  2. A new Critical Supply Card is revealed and placed on the Cabin Board.
  3. The Night Marker advances, moving to the next night. Place the Jason Supply Token for the new night in the Camp Bag.

Winning

At the end of the 5th night, all Supplies (including those in Backpacks) are dropped off at the Cabin and the points are added up. The player with the most points is the winner!

NOTE: Fear Cards remaining after the 5th night are traded for an additional 1 point each. Remaining Defense Fear Cards and Escape Tokens are traded for 3 points each.

Game Overview Reminder

  1. Each player gets 5 Fear Cards to start.
  2. The player who most recently watched a horror movie goes first. If no one has watched one recently, then the player who runs the slowest goes first.
  3. On your turn, choose to do one of the following: Search for Supplies · Play a Fear Card · Return to the Cabin. NOTE: The Defense Fear Cards are played during another player's turn to block a Fear Card being played against you.
  4. When you get a second Jason Token, it causes a Second Jason Attack and you must Return to the Cabin until the next night. You return all Supply Tokens on your Player Board to the bag and do not receive any Bravery Bonus. However, you get an Escape Token.
  5. The Backpack Card may be used to protect and save Supplies for another night.
  6. At the end of the night, drop off the Supplies on your Player Board at the Cabin for their respective point values (along with any possible bonuses).
  7. Start of a new night… give each player one Fear Card, reveal a new Critical Supply Card, and advance the Night Marker by one, adding the Jason Supply Token to the Camp Bag.
