Components
55 cards:
- 12 terrains (moors)
- 5 caves
- 8 shrubs
- 19 cards split top and bottom
- 11 cards split left and right
All expansion cards show the new type symbol, the Exmoor expansion mark (a green downward-pointing triangle).
Setup Changes
Shuffle the base game cards and the 50 expansion cards together. Then, based on the player count, return cards to the game box unseen:
- with 2 players: 70 cards*
- with 3 players: 40 cards*
- with 4 players: 25 cards
- with 5 players: 10 cards
*Hint for two players: Instead of counting cards to remove at the start, shuffle all cards, divide them into 3 equal piles and remove 1 unseen from play; with three players, form 5 piles and remove 1 unseen from play.
In step 7 of setup, use the new caves instead of the base game ones.
Clarifications
Play the game according to the base game rules. Note the following clarifications:
Dragonflies: With the Golden-Ringed Dragonfly, there are now 6 different dragonflies to collect in the game.
Ponies: Dartmoor Pony, Exmoor Pony, and Exmoor Pony Foal are all considered to be ponies.
The New Symbols
New Type Symbol
Exmoor expansion: the new type symbol, shown on all expansion cards.
Effect and Bonus
The insert shows two new effects. Each is printed as an icon, which is written out here in words.
Add a bird card from the clearing. Add a bird card from the clearing to your forest at no cost, without using its effect and bonus. If there is no such card in the clearing, add cards from the deck to the clearing until you either find one or drew 3 cards total. If there is still no such card in the clearing, you get nothing from this effect.
Add 3 insect cards from the clearing. Add 3 insect cards from the clearing to your forest at no cost, without using their effects and bonuses. If there are not enough cards in the clearing, add up to 7 cards from the deck to the clearing. If there are still less than 3 insect cards in the clearing after doing so, take and play as many as you can.
Note on the icons: the insert prints these effects as a blue tile with a bird and a green tile with an insect. The words "bird" and "insect" are taken from the base Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor type-symbol list, which includes both Bird and Insect.
