Cardinal
Top half of the card. Cost 1 (top-left box). Habitat icon: tree. Animal icon: bird (flying animal).
Effect: Draw 1 card for each shrub icon in your play area. The card shows this as a white card icon with the number 1, multiplied by a green shrub icon. Shrubs are counted in your play area (your forest).
Points: 5 acorns (points). The Cardinal has no other printed bonus.
Say's Firefly
Bottom half of the card. Cost 0 (top-left box). Habitat icon: tree. Animal icon: insect.
Points: All your fireflies form a set, including Say's Firefly itself. The card shows the following scoring row: 1 firefly scores 0 points, 2 fireflies score 10 points, 3 fireflies score 15 points, and 4 fireflies score 20 points, each shown with an acorn (point) icon. The row is read from the firefly icon above the numbers 1 to 4.
Card Notes
- The top-right emblems on both halves (a red maple leaf on the Cardinal, a yellow leaf on Say's Firefly) and the illustrator credit on the Cardinal half are printed decoration; they have no rules effect and are not transcribed.
- Cross-reference to the base game's own clarification: Say's Firefly counts as a firefly, so even with 5 fireflies in your forest you still get only 20 points in total (see the Clarifications section of the Forest Shuffle Exploration rulebook).
