Components

1 Flippi Flatter game unit (the wings are packed separately)

1 game board with the following rooms:

  • A: Dining rooms
  • B: Treasure chambers
  • C: Room with the thief
  • D: Room with the "magic whirlpool"

1 treasure chest

4 sacks

4 game pieces and 4 plastic feet

1 die

50 gems (10 each in red, blue, yellow, green and white)

Before the First Game

  • Take Flippi and her wings out of the protective box.
  • Push the wings onto the mounts. The next page shows what Flippi looks like with the wings attached. If a wing comes loose, simply push it back onto its mount.
  • Press Flippi Flatter down until it locks into place. Fold and hook in her wings as described in the "Calming Flippi" step of the Quick Start Game.
  • Three AA/LR6 1.5 V batteries are required. An adult should insert them.
  • Punch out all the parts from the punch boards.
  • Push the game pieces into the 4 plastic feet.
  • Fold up the treasure chest at its two short sides and insert the side walls from above into the slots provided, as shown in the illustration.

Quick Start Game for Younger Children

Setup

  • Place Flippi Flatter in the middle of the table. To reach her easily, ideally sit in a semicircle around her.
  • Each player takes a sack. The side without coloured borders faces up.
  • Put the gems into the treasure chest.
  • The game board, game pieces and die are not needed.

Goal of the Game

Be the first to fill your sack with 10 gems (any colour).

Play

Play goes clockwise; the youngest player begins.

Slide the switch on the back of the tower to ON.

Feeding Flippi Flatter

The player whose turn it is decides and announces how often they want to feed Flippi Flatter: 1, 2 or 3 times.

You feed Flippi by pressing her tongue down with your finger until you hear a quiet "click".

CLICK!

  • Flippi stays calm: As a thank-you for feeding, Flippi rewards you with gems. For each time you fed her, you may take that many gems from Flippi's treasure chest and place them into the punched holes of your sack. Your turn then ends.
  • Flippi flaps her wings wildly: Return one of your collected gems to Flippi's treasure chest. If you have no gem in your sack yet, you are lucky! Now you must calm Flippi down again. Your turn then ends.

Calming Flippi

Please observe the order of the actions!

  1. Press the button (middle merlon) below Flippi's tongue. She stops flapping.
  2. Press Flippi down until she locks into place.
  3. Fold Flippi's wings and hook the wing tips behind the extensions of the merlons, as shown.

End of the Game

The first player to fill their sack with 10 gems wins.

Note: Do not forget to switch Flippi Flatter off after the game (switch position OFF).

The Feeding Game for Scare-Tested Gem Collectors

Setup

  • Place Flippi Flatter in the middle of the table so that everyone can reach her well.
  • Place the assembled game board in front of Flippi Flatter.
  • Each player takes a game piece and the sack showing the same game piece. The side with the coloured borders faces up.
  • Put the gems into the treasure chest.
  • Get the die ready.

Goal of the Game

Be the first to fill your sack with two gems of each colour.

Play

To start, place your game pieces in one of the two treasure chambers.

Play goes clockwise. The player who most recently saw a bat begins.

Slide the switch (on the back of the tower) to ON.

  1. The player whose turn it is rolls the die and moves their game piece one, two or three rooms according to the number rolled. You may only move your game piece through open doorways, not through closed walls. You may not move forward and backward within a single turn. Several game pieces may stand in the same room.
  2. Depending on which room you move your game piece into, one of the actions described below takes place. Your turn then ends.

The Castle's Rooms

Dining rooms in red, blue, yellow, green and white:

You must feed Flippi Flatter. You feed Flippi by pressing her tongue down with your finger until you hear a quiet "click". Decide and announce how often you want to do this: 1, 2 or 3 times?

The colour of the room determines the colour of the gem with which you are rewarded for feeding.

CLICK!

  • Flippi stays calm: As a thank-you for feeding, Flippi rewards you with gems. For each time you fed her, you may take that many gems from Flippi's treasure chest and place them into the holes of your sack that have a border of the same colour.

Example with two gems: You stand in the blue dining room and have pressed Flippi's tongue successfully two times. As a thank-you you receive two blue gems, which you place into the blue-bordered holes of your sack.

Example with three gems: You stand with your game piece in the red dining room. You have pressed Flippi's tongue three times. Flippi stays calm. Take three red gems! Place two of them into the red-bordered holes of your sack. What happens to the third, surplus gem, which you do not actually need for victory? Place this "reserve gem" on your sack! If you should ever overfeed Flippi, you may give it back.

Space here for your reserve gems.

  • Flippi flaps her wings wildly: Return one of your collected gems to Flippi's treasure chest. If you have no gem in your sack yet, you are lucky! Now you must calm Flippi down again. Follow the description in the Quick Start Game.

Treasure chamber:

Take one gem of any colour from Flippi's treasure chest (without feeding her) and place it in your sack.

Room with the thief:

You may "steal" a gem of your choice from any other player, or take a gem of any colour from Flippi's treasure chest (without feeding her). In both cases, place the gem in your sack.

Note: If a gem colour is no longer present in Flippi's treasure chest, you can only obtain the gems you need by "stealing".

Room with the "magic whirlpool":

From here your game piece flies into any other room of your choice. Then carry out the action of that room.

End of the Game

The first player to collect two gems of each colour wins.

Note: Do not forget to switch Flippi Flatter off after the game (switch position OFF).
