Game Idea
In this crazy competition each player tries to be the first to catch hen with his fox.
A player rolls, one by one, the four fox dice. After each throw he has to decide if he wants to move his own fox or the fox of another player as many squares as dots on the dice.
But beware! Each fox can only be moved once during one's turn. Therefore you have to think twice about which fox you are going to move or if it is risky to wait in the hope of a higher score, to move your own fox. The game ends as soon as a fox catches up to the hen, thus winning the game.
It also ends if a fox is too slow and is caught by the hen. In this case all the players lose and the hen cackles with triumph.
Preparation
Place the game board in the center of the table. Each player gets a fox and the corresponding fox card.
Place the fox card in front of you and the foxes on their starting square on the game board. Place the hen on its starting square on the game board.
Get the dice ready and return the game material you don't need back into the box.
Important: If you are two players each player takes two foxes and the two corresponding fox cards.
(The board shows a starting square for the foxes, a starting square for the hen, and the path squares between them.)
How to Play
Play in a clockwise direction. The fastest player starts. If you cannot agree, the youngest player starts and rolls one of the fox dice.
Now think about which fox you want to move and place the fox die on the corresponding fox card, it may be your own or that of another player. Now move the fox of the corresponding color as many squares in a clockwise direction as dots are shown on the die. There can be any number of foxes on each square.
Where does the fox land?
- On any path square or any starting square? Nothing happens.
- On a square showing eggs? Lucky fox. He can immediately move ahead two more squares.
- On the hunter's square? Tough luck for the fox; he immediately must move back two squares.
Then you roll the next fox die and again place it on any fox card still left without a die. This goes on until there is a die on each fox card and the foxes have been moved correspondingly.
The hen flaps on!
Now you roll the hen die and move the hen the corresponding number of squares in a clockwise direction. The special squares (eggs, hunter) have no importance now.
Then take all dice off the fox cards and it's the turn of the next player to roll the dice.
End of the Game
The game ends, as soon as ...
- ... a fox moves onto or past the square with the hen. The player of this fox has won the game.
- ... the hen passes a fox. All players lose together and the hen wins.
Hint: Three players can also play with four foxes. The fourth fox and fourth fox card belong to no one. The fox is moved the same and may also win the game.
