How does breeding work in May, and does the baby need room?

In May a Stall with exactly 2 of one type gets a third; a Stable with 2, 3 or 5 gets one more and with exactly 4 gets two. The baby is placed with its parents, so if that Stall or Stable is full no baby is born, and nothing is discarded. You may rearrange Animals freely before breeding (for example to make room) but not during it.
